As a Senior Electrical Engineer on our Advanced Drilling and Driving team, you will work cross-functionally to identify challenges and develop innovative solutions for next-generation power tools, from concept through qualification and integration.
Every project entails the inventive exploration of form and function with passion for the interactions between the user and the product. You will not only be responsible for working collaboratively with marketing, platform engineering, and new product development teams, but multiple external suppliers and contract manufacturers. Therefore organization, timeline management, communication, and attention to technical details will ensure that you are successful in this role.
You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
  • Work with cross-functional team to identify technology gaps to product development; evaluate new technologies, determine features, functions, and requirements for new electronic systems.
  • Design and build initial prototypes and concept models of electronics systems with an eye towards practicality and manufacturing feasibility.
  • Develop test plans, perform simulations, conduct experiments, and determine feasibility and effectiveness of solutions through data
  • Use laboratory equipment typically utilized in an electronics development environment.
  • Provide hands-on assistance with product development from initial concept to production.
  • Present information to cross-functional audiences.
  • Develop and maintain familiarity and understanding of Milwaukee's development and manufacturing processes.
  • Work with and establish trusting relationships with engineers throughout Milwaukee Tool and our global manufacturing teams.
  • Track design and testing workflows to ensure alignment with project schedules and Milwaukee Tool's development processes.
  • As solutions moves from concept to development guide product development teams with integration and validation.
  • Troubleshoot, perform Root Cause Analysis, and offer feasible solutions on projects under development.
  • Quickly identify tradeoffs and solutions to problems in order to resolve in a high urgency environment.

What TOOLS you'll bring with you:
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field.
  • 5+ years of experience in related design field.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a hands-on attitude.
  • Knowledge of power electronics, motors, and motor control systems.
  • Experience with embedded systems, debugging microcontrollers, and programing best practices.
  • Strong knowledge of circuit simulation, schematic capture, PCBA layouts, and PCBA manufacturing.
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams to create new designs.
  • Prior experience with development of "end use" commercial products and knowledge of taking an item from concept to production.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel and Power Point.
  • Ability to potentially travel 10% of the time is required (travel includes Domestic and International).
