Job description

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Design and detail industrial control systems
    • Interpret mechanical schematics to develop complete system designs
    • Generate design drawings, bill of equipment
    • Selection of purchased equipment
  • Design & detail industrial control software
    • PLC / controller code / graphic user interface code
  • Follow designs through to equipment fabrication, software code testing, and on-site startup / debug
  • Manage electrical portion of projects
    • Supervise subcontracts
    • Manage schedule
  • Maintain transmittal records and document control
  • Interface with the customer to establish design goals
  • Specify electrical components
  • Maintain project schedules
  • Development of subcontract bid package documentation
  • Responsible for complete system design, analysis, and engineering calculation
  • Attend and/or conduct design reviews
  • Support on-site installation team as required
  • Perform site verification and field checking as required
  • Attend customer meetings to understand project requirements
  • Communicate with project team, customers, and suppliers
  • Understand, diagnose, and solve real or potential design problems
    • Troubleshoot electrical installation, both hardware and software
  • Travel approximately 30%

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering
  • 5-10 years of position-related experience
  • Experience with electrical engineering design for industrial controls and panels
  • Experience with industrial networking: Ethernet IP, ProfiBus, ProfiNet, Devicenet, etc
  • Able to interpret NEC and local codes
  • Familiar with PLC programming, graphic user interface programming, computer operating systems, and networking
  • Good analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Familiar with instrumentation and process control
  • Design engineering calculation ability
  • Able to read and interpret Electrical Schematics
    • Knowledge of DIN standards a plus
  • Ability to learn and utilize Microsoft Visio
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus
  • Ability to understand and maintain project schedules
  • Good time management skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Good technical writing skills
  • Able to effectively communicate with engineering and estimating departments, contractors, suppliers, and customers
  • Able to work well independently and in a team environment
  • Able to technically define problems and propose solutions
  • Adaptable to change in a learning environment
  • Willing and able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary
