The Role: RIG Electrical Journeyman
As a RIG Electrical Journeyman, you install and maintain electrical infrastructure in accordance with Switch SUPERNAP standards. You support AC and DC power systems, grounding systems, and related electrical components in mission-critical data center environments. This role requires safe execution, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in live electrical settings.
What You'll Do
  • Install electrical receptacles, junction boxes, and associated hardware.
  • Install and secure conduit up to 4 inches.
  • Pull and install wire according to electrical drawings and specifications.
  • Safely terminate breakers in accordance with ICR and installation documentation.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings and installation sheets.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Identify and report safety hazards or concerns.
  • Maintain required tools and equipment inventory.
  • Train team members on electrical procedures aligned with Switch standards.
  • Perform work on live electrical equipment in compliance with NFPA 70E and internal safety standards when authorized.

Required
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician license in the state of employment.
  • Completion of an approved apprenticeship program or 8,000 hours of electrical experience.
  • Working knowledge of AC, DC, and grounding systems.
  • Understanding of construction field safety requirements.
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift at least 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work safely around live electrical systems.

Preferred
  • Experience working in data center or mission-critical environments.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70E requirements and hot work procedures.
