Job description


Sun River Health provides the highest quality of comprehensive primary, preventative and behavioral health services to all who see it, regardless of insurance status and ability to pay, especially for the underserved and vulnerable. Sun River Health is a Federally Qualified, Non-Profit Health Center serving communities in Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia and Westchester County. Sun River Health is currently seeking a full-time Senior Patient Representative/Front Desk Receptionist to join our team in our Beacon, NY site.
This position is responsible for providing patient centered care and facilitating patient access to services in a pleasant, knowledgeable efficient manner, communicating with a diverse population using well-developed interpersonal skills. This staff member will be responsible for all aspects of the registration and appointment process for patients. The staff member plays an integral role in the medical care team as the access point for patients to receive care. Performs job duties in compliance with systems and job specific standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Senior Patient Representative:
  • Reviews daily and monthly statistical reports on patient utilization of services and providers, on collection of fees from self-pay patients, and on no-show rates per provider.
  • Reviews bills generated by SRH when patients inquire in person or by telephone. Make adjustments on the bills, if necessary, and sends the information to the Billing Department. Answers questions about bills that patients may have.
  • Review on a daily basis the patient representatives' schedule and made the necessary change to make sure we have proper coverage
  • Review and assigned on a daily basis a staff member the site medical bucket
  • Complete on a daily basis money reconciliation, prepare bank deposit and deposit money at the bank assign to their site.
  • Template and block provider schedules as directed by Operations Manager/Health Center Director
  • Perform monthly office supplies inventory and place orders/indicate ordering needs to Operations Manager/Health Center Director
  • Distributes materials to patients, including the patient satisfaction cards, patient rights and other appropriate materials.
  • Monitors performance of front desk team and works in conjunction with Operations Manager/HCD to address performance gaps
  • Responsible for the scheduling of appointments, fee collection, explanation of services and charges for patient services for all service levels.
  • Coordinates and assists with orientation of new front desk staff members
  • Assists with daily reception activities and ensuring that all processes needed for patient services are initiated.
  • Responsible for professional and responsive communication with patients including (telephone, in person, health center based, and mail contact with patients.
  • Communicates effectively with team members and patients all aspects of service.
  • Verifies all insurance and sets fees based on the sliding scale fee.

Minimum Education Requirement: High school diploma/ GED
Minimum Work-Related Experience: 2-4 years
Language Requirement: Bilingual Spanish
