Job description


The Controllership Manager is responsible for leading accounting, compliance, and financial control activities across assigned business units while ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting. This role oversees month-end close processes, balance sheet governance, SOX compliance, and adherence to US GAAP and Honeywell policies. The Controllership Manager serves as a key business partner to finance and operational stakeholders, driving process improvements, supporting audits, mentoring a team of accounting professionals, and helping deliver a strong control environment that enables sound business decisions.
Responsibilities
  • Accountable for managing a team of professionals & overseeing comprehensive accounting control / compliance and process design within Honeywell, facilitating robust financial reporting, and contributing to business partnership and process improvement initiatives.
  • Own, manage and coordinate accounting, control and compliance for assigned SBUs, including the period-end closing activities. Deliver a standard month end close timetable & ensure compliance across entities. Approve Journal & Account Recon as needed
  • Ensure entity and process compliance with US GAAP and HON policies
  • Understand technical accounting, encompassing project accounting, revenue and cost accounting, assessment and distributions, and COPA cycles.
  • Ensure TB Flux during Month end close analysis identify issues or anamolies. Ensure balance sheet reviews are meaningful. Ensure accuracy & timeliness of quarterly variance schedules.
  • Drive process/control compliance, action and report deficient or overlooked controls, and promptly notify relevant stakeholders.
  • Review critical / aged balance sheet account reconciliations to determie exposure & drive closure of aged items.
  • Ensure documentation us maintained, Ensure timely completion & escalation to support audit (Internal/external) requirement. Ensure SOX compliance.
  • Maintain transparent accounting/process practices and ensure excellent relationships are maintained with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Review financial reports and other related variables.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and work with the transformation leader to execute them.
  • Partner with business on new initiatives and ensure team is engaged in projects.
  • Manage ad-hoc queries from business and other stakeholders.
  • Provide financial reports, analysis, explanations and advice based on knowledge of financial info, relevant GAAP & supporting SAP systems to SBU/auditors

Qualifications
YOU MUST HAVE
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting, controllership, public accounting, or manufacturing finance experience.
  • Experience managing financial statements and accounting operations for multinational or multi-entity organizations
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, SOX compliance, and financial reporting requirements
  • Experience leading or mentoring accounting professionals in a direct or indirect leadership capacity
  • Experience supporting month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, audits, and compliance activities
  • Demonstrated ability to lead knowledge transfer, process transitions, or business transformation initiatives
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and communicate effectively with senior leadership
  • Experience leading continuous improvement, automation, or finance transformation projects
