Position Summary:

KBR, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr System Engineer to support the Air Force's Advanced Battle Management System (ABMS) Division. Providing expert-level system engineering and test and evaluation guidance on this complex program, this role will focus on developing and then implementing test objectives, at a formal integration event, which evaluates how well the ABMS product lines interoperate across each other as well as with the DAF BATTLE NETWORK in Digital Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure ABMS product lines are interoperable across the DAF BATTLE NETWORK
  • Ensure systems interface to other services, DoD and Intelligence Community (IC) efforts in support of Joint All Domian Command and Control (JADC2) are engineered to ensure interoperability across joint and coalition forces.
  • Develop and then lead execution of the ABMS integrated evaluation strategy.
  • Serve as the focal point for all ABMS integrated evaluation events.
  • Collaborate with others to develop objectives and key results for each integrated evaluation event.
  • Facilitate planning conferences to achieve evaluation event objectives.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on system engineering requirements and practices during all phases of the acquisition lifecycle, from materiel solution analysis through production, deployment, and operations and support with a focus on interoperability requirements.
  • Ensure ABMS acquisition, modernization, tracking, and single pane of glass processes and documents align with appropriate systems engineering statutory and regulatory requirements and build/create processes and tools.
  • Address System Interoperability During Design:
  • Provide subject matter expertise to product delivery teams to ensure their systems are designed, developed, and maintained in such a way that they are interoperable across the DAF BATTLE NETWORK as well as with relevant joint and coalition partner capabilities.
  • Advise on interoperability considerations for critical infrastructure and classified systems as they relate to the product line's acquisition efforts (e.g., Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), Special Access Program (SAP), Collateral, and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)).
  • Participate in all certification tests, as required.
  • Training, Awareness & Collaboration:
  • Deliver training and awareness programs on Air Force-specific integrated test and interoperability requirements for acquisition program office personnel.
  • Promote interoperability best practices across all assigned programs, ensuring that program personnel understand and implement interoperability requirements effectively.
  • Serve as a liaison between program office, user community and contractor personnel to ensure clear communication and adherence to both integrated test and interoperability policies.

  • Travel Requirements: Moderate 0-25%
  • Working Hours: Standard - Core hours 0900 - 1500

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering and/or test and evaluation with a specific focus on Air Force acquisition programs or similar DoD systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage system requirements verification and validation activities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead planning and execution events.
  • Expertise in software integration and testing.
  • Experience with prototyping and experimentation within the DoD or IC.
  • Proficiency with engineering tools and technologies commonly used in Air Force and DoD acquisition programs, such as model based systems engineering, risk management, requirements management, project scheduling, and software backlog management tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex security concepts to program managers, contractors, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines within the DoD acquisition environment.
  • Ability to navigate the complexities of military contracting processes and collaborate with defense contractors to ensure compliance with Air Force security requirements.
  • An active Top Secret clearance with SCI Eligibility - required
  • SAP Eligibility

Desired:

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in Special Access and/or SCI programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently or as a team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive projects to closure and to assimilate and correlate project information in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with technical and non-technical project teams.
  • Experience acquiring and/or testing command and control or battle management systems.
  • Experience integrating weapon systems into a system of systems.
  • Experience with AFSIT and JITC certification testing.
  • Highly Preferred: DAWIA Engineering and Technology Management Practitioner or DAWIA Test and Evaluation Practitioner or Equivalent
