EMPLOYMENT

THE MISSION

Turn ideas, sketches, sites, and development concepts into attractive, buildable products and extraordinary images that people want to buy, lease, finance, and approve.

Position Overview

King Built Properties is seeking a highly talented Senior Architectural Designer to join our growing building and real estate development team. This is not simply a drafting position. We need a creative and technically capable designer who can help invent the product, improve it, visualize it, and make it marketable.

The successful candidate will help design custom homes, production homes, townhomes, apartments, rental communities, mixed-use buildings, and master-planned developments. Architectural licensure is not required. Final architectural, structural, civil, and engineering documents will be coordinated with appropriately licensed outside professionals when required.

Core Capabilities
  • Residential and multifamily building design
  • Revit modeling and BIM production
  • AutoCAD drafting and plan coordination
  • Photorealistic architectural visualization
  • Preliminary land planning and community concepts
  • Marketing-oriented product and presentation design
Building and Product Design
  • Develop building concepts from sketches, reference images, plans, and discussions with company ownership.
  • Create marketable floor plans, elevations, building forms, roof designs, and exterior material combinations.
  • Design custom homes, production homes, townhomes, apartments, and rental products.
  • Develop multiple exterior elevations from common floor-plan platforms.
  • Improve plans for functionality, appearance, constructability, efficiency, and market appeal.
  • Create repeatable products that can be adapted across multiple communities.
  • Balance architectural quality with construction cost and practical building methods.
3D Visualization and Marketing Imagery
  • Produce photorealistic exterior and interior renderings.
  • Create realistic materials, lighting, landscaping, furnishings, and environmental settings.
  • Develop aerial renderings, streetscapes, development overviews, and pedestrian-level perspectives.
  • Create 3D floor plans, project animations, fly-through videos, and walkthroughs.
  • Place proposed buildings into site photographs when appropriate.
  • Develop imagery for websites, social media, investor presentations, municipal presentations, development signage, sales, and pre-leasing campaigns.
  • Create visual content that helps customers, investors, lenders, landowners, and cities understand a project before construction begins.
Drafting and BIM Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain accurate Revit models.
  • Prepare floor plans, elevations, sections, roof plans, and building details.
  • Produce drawing packages for coordination with outside architects and engineers.
  • Prepare and revise AutoCAD drawings when required.
  • Incorporate redlines and technical revisions from architects, engineers, municipalities, and construction personnel.
  • Coordinate architectural information with structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing information.
  • Develop Revit templates, families, details, title blocks, and consistent drawing standards.
  • Build and maintain an internal library of residential and multifamily plans.
Land Planning and Community Visualization
  • Prepare preliminary subdivision, multifamily, and mixed-use development concepts.
  • Create conceptual lot layouts, building placements, parking arrangements, circulation plans, and density studies.
  • Develop streetscapes, community entrances, amenities, parks, trails, and open-space concepts.
  • Coordinate preliminary concepts with civil engineers, surveyors, land planners, and landscape architects.
  • Transform technical site plans into attractive, easy-to-understand visual exhibits.
  • Prepare materials for zoning, entitlement, municipal, lender, investor, and landowner presentations.
Required Qualifications
  • At least five years of professional experience in building design, architectural drafting, residential design, BIM production, architectural visualization, or a closely related field.
  • Strong Revit and AutoCAD proficiency.
  • Demonstrated ability to create high-quality architectural renderings.
  • Experience with residential, multifamily, mixed-use, or land-development projects.
  • Ability to develop a building from concept through a coordinated drawing package.
  • Strong understanding of floor-plan design, building proportions, elevations, materials, and residential functionality.
  • Ability to read and understand architectural, structural, and civil plans.
  • Strong organization, file-management, communication, and deadline-management practices.
  • Professional portfolio clearly showing personally completed design, drafting, modeling, and rendering work.
Preferred Software and Experience

Experience with Lumion is strongly preferred. Comparable high-quality visualization experience will also be considered.

  • Lumion, D5 Render, Enscape, Twinmotion, V-Ray, 3ds Max, SketchUp, Unreal Engine, or similar visualization tools.
  • Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro, or comparable presentation tools.
  • Experience working for a homebuilder, developer, design-build company, residential designer, or architectural firm.
  • Townhome, apartment, custom-home, or production-home design experience.
  • Experience creating product lines, aerial development renderings, animations, or project walkthroughs.
  • Experience coordinating with licensed architects, engineers, and construction teams.
  • Ability to supervise future drafters, visualization specialists, or outside designers as the department grows.
Remote and Hybrid Work

King Built Properties is open to in-person, hybrid, or fully remote candidates depending on experience, portfolio quality, communication skills, and ability to work independently. Remote candidates must maintain reliable availability, participate in regular video meetings, manage organized cloud-based files, meet deadlines, and travel periodically to Southwest Missouri when major project meetings or site visits require in-person participation.

Growth Opportunity
  • Opportunity to become Director of Building Design and Visualization, Design Department Manager, or Vice President of Design and Product Development.
  • Help establish internal design standards, product libraries, workflows, and visual quality expectations.
  • Potential to recruit and manage future drafters, designers, visualization professionals, and outside consultants.
Compensation and Benefits
  • $75,000-$110,000 annual salary based on experience, portfolio, technical capability, productivity, and leadership potential.
  • Exceptional candidates with advanced Revit, product-design, land-planning, and visualization capabilities may be considered above the stated range.
  • Relocation Assistance Provided
  • Employer-sponsored health insurance benefit.
  • Company-provided computer and required software licenses.
  • Dedicated office and workspace for local or hybrid employees.
  • Remote-work flexibility for highly qualified candidates.
  • Direct collaboration with ownership, construction leadership, and active development projects.
  • Significant advancement opportunity within a growing regional company.
How to Apply

Please submit a current resume and a complete portfolio that includes residential or multifamily floor plans, Revit or AutoCAD drawing samples, exterior and interior renderings, and aerial, streetscape, or master-plan imagery when available. Clearly identify which portions of each project you personally completed. Include software proficiency, preferred work arrangement, compensation expectations, and earliest available start date.

Applications without a portfolio demonstrating design and rendering capabilities may not be considered. King Built Properties is an equal opportunity employer.
