Role: Data Engineer; Operational Data Group
Location: Onsite in Omaha, Nebraska
Department: Enterprise Technology Group – Architecture & Development
 
We are seeking a skilled, Mid-Senior level Data Engineer to join our Operational Data Group.
 
In this role, you will design, develop, test, and maintain ETL processes that transform raw data into trusted, actionable information. You will work with modern tools and data platforms to support critical decision-making across the organization, ensuring data is accurate, timely, and aligned with our corporate data architecture.
 
What You’ll Do
Develop, enhance, and maintain complex ETL pipelines using tools like Informatica, DataStage, or DBT, and adapt them as business requirements evolve.
Map source data to warehouse models, perform data quality checks, and resolve data issues early in the development cycle.
Troubleshoot issues, manage code deployments, and provide rotational on-call support to maintain stable, high-performing systems.
Contribute to dimensional and relational data modeling, source-to-target mappings, and performance tuning.
Partner with developers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver solutions that meet operational and strategic needs.
 
Technical Skills
7+ years in data engineering, including ETL tools (Informatica, DataStage, DBT, etc.)
5+ years SQL programming
5+ years Python or Shell scripting
5+ years developing or deploying cloud-based solutions (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud preferred)
Strong background in data modeling, data warehousing, and performance tuning
 
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field with 5+ years of experience in an enterprise level environment
Experience in the insurance industry is helpful but not required.
Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation.
