Our client is currently seeking a Senior Database Developer with strong performing tuning experience for full-time employment. You will be responsible for the design, development and operation of risk management applications. Quality-minded individuals with a strong sense of ownership and excellent technical skills are desired.

Job Summary:

The Sr. Database Developer is responsible for the design, development and implementation of applications following the full systems development lifecycle (SDLC). This is an opportunity for a hands-on individual who wants to contribute as an individual contributor. This position will provide ample opportunities to lead, influence and mentor other team members, eventually growing into the project management role.

Functional Responsibilities:

Design, develop and implement applications following full SDLC

* Responsible for providing data driven technology solutions

* Strong database design and optimization skills

* Design, develop and maintain complex database processes.

* Analyze requirements and prepare detailed technical design documents.

* Lead the continued development of processes related to data enrichment.

* Provide coding and environment support for applications team.

* Work with developers and DBAs to tune databases procedures and SQL.

* Reinforce the use of best practices and coding standards.

* Designing effective system architectures with a focus in usability and scalability

* Scope engineering efforts and develop resource plans and timelines to meet deliverables

* Ability to develop and design software architecture plan

Qualifications

Required Experience:

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field preferred, or equivalent work experience required.

* 10+ years of related work experience

* 5+ years of experience working in the investments domain. Should have a very good understanding of financial products such as fixed rate bonds (Treasury, agency, and corporate), floating rate bonds, interest rate swaps, futures, caps & floors, FX swaps, and equities.

* 5+ years of relational database development experience. Must be able to take business requirements and transform them into an implementable design.

* 5+ years of MS SQL Server

* 3+ years of experience with a procedural language such as Java or .Net that should include a good understanding of application architecture and how to apply it.

* 3+ years of experience working directly with the business users

* 3+ years of experience with planning, conducting, and evaluating unit tests, integration tests, and user acceptance tests.

* 3+ years of experience with MS SQL Server performance tuning.

Preferred Experience:

* Knowledge of financial risk management specifically, market risk or credit risk is highly desirable.

* Experience with any Big Data solution a strong plus as we are currently implementing one of our projects on Microsoft Parallel Data Warehouse (PDW).

* Experience with BI tools such as SSAS highly desirable

* Experience with onshore and offshore team management/coordination is a strong plus.

* Project Management experience highly desirable

* Experience with large tables with hundreds of millions of rows.
