Your Opportunity
Stantec's Digital Solutions team is seeking an experienced Senior Account Manager - Technology Consulting to lead and grow strategic client relationships while helping organizations solve complex business challenges through technology.
This role combines account leadership, business development, technology consulting, and project delivery. The successful candidate will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, develop a deep understanding of their business and technology needs, identify opportunities where Stantec can deliver value, and lead multidisciplinary teams in the successful delivery of complex technology initiatives.
The Senior Account Manager will be responsible for managing and expanding existing strategic accounts while also developing new client relationships and opportunities. This individual should be comfortable engaging with senior executives and technology leaders, developing account strategies, shaping solutions, leading proposals and pursuits, and transitioning opportunities into successful projects.
The role will support a broad range of technology consulting services, including custom application development, artificial intelligence and automation, data and analytics, cybersecurity, cloud and technology modernization, systems integration, and digital transformation.
The ideal candidate is a strong relationship builder who combines business acumen with sufficient technical knowledge to understand client challenges, develop practical solutions, and lead technical teams through successful implementation.
Your Key Responsibilities
Account Management & Growth
  • Serve as a senior relationship leader and trusted technology advisor for strategic client accounts.
  • Develop a deep understanding of each client's organization, business objectives, technology environment, challenges, and long-term priorities.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans focused on client success, relationship expansion, and sustainable revenue growth.
  • Build relationships across client organizations, including executive leadership, technology leaders, operational teams, and other key stakeholders.
  • Identify opportunities to expand existing accounts by introducing new technology capabilities, services, and solutions.
  • Maintain visibility into client priorities, budgets, procurement cycles, and upcoming technology initiatives.
  • Coordinate Stantec resources and subject matter experts to bring the right capabilities to clients.
  • Monitor account performance, pipeline, revenue, backlog, client satisfaction, and growth opportunities.

Business Development
  • Develop new client relationships and identify opportunities for Stantec's technology consulting services.
  • Lead client discovery sessions to understand business problems and translate those needs into potential technology solutions.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified technology consulting opportunities.
  • Lead or support proposals, presentations, demonstrations, statements of work, scopes, budgets, and contract negotiations.
  • Collaborate with Stantec business leaders and technical teams to develop compelling solutions for clients.
  • Identify opportunities to cross-sell technology services into existing Stantec relationships and projects.
  • Represent Stantec at client meetings, industry events, conferences, and other business development activities.
  • Help shape new service offerings based on emerging technologies, client needs, and market opportunities.

Technology Consulting
  • Advise clients on technology strategies and solutions that improve operations, decision-making, efficiency, security, and customer or employee experiences.
  • Facilitate discovery workshops and translate business requirements into actionable technology strategies and project roadmaps.
  • Help clients evaluate technology alternatives and make informed decisions regarding custom development, commercial platforms, cloud services, AI, cybersecurity, data, and integration strategies.
  • Maintain a working understanding of emerging technology trends and their practical application within client organizations.
  • Work with technical subject matter experts to develop solutions that are technically sound, commercially viable, and aligned with client objectives.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Project & Program Leadership
  • Lead and manage complex technology consulting engagements from initial discovery through implementation and closeout.
  • Provide project management and executive oversight for initiatives involving custom application development, AI implementation, cybersecurity, data and analytics, systems integration, cloud modernization, and related technology solutions.
  • Establish project scope, objectives, deliverables, schedules, budgets, governance, and success criteria.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams of developers, architects, data professionals, cybersecurity specialists, business analysts, designers, and other technical resources.
  • Manage client expectations and maintain clear communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Identify and proactively manage project risks, issues, dependencies, scope changes, and resource requirements.
  • Ensure projects are delivered with a high level of quality while meeting schedule, budget, and client expectations.
  • Identify follow-on opportunities that emerge through successful project delivery.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
  • Proven experience managing and growing significant client accounts within technology consulting, professional services, engineering consulting, or a related industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop trusted relationships with senior client stakeholders and executive leadership.
  • Strong business development skills with experience identifying, qualifying, shaping, and closing consulting opportunities.
  • Experience developing and executing strategic account plans and achieving account growth objectives.
  • Strong understanding of technology consulting and the ability to connect technology capabilities to business problems and outcomes.
  • Experience leading complex, multidisciplinary technology projects or programs.
  • Working knowledge of several technology domains, such as:
    • Custom software and application development
    • Artificial intelligence, generative AI, and intelligent automation
    • Cybersecurity and risk management
    • Data engineering, analytics, and business intelligence
    • Cloud architecture and modernization
    • Systems integration and APIs
    • Digital transformation and technology strategy
  • Strong project management capabilities, including scope, schedule, budget, risk, resource, and stakeholder management.
  • Ability to lead technical teams without necessarily being the primary technical developer or architect.
  • Excellent executive communication, presentation, facilitation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including experience with project budgets, profitability, forecasting, pipeline management, and contracts.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrixed consulting organization and coordinate resources across multiple teams and geographies.
  • Well organized, self-motivated, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working with limited direct supervision.
  • Ability to balance client relationships, business development, and project delivery responsibilities across multiple accounts and initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support client relationships, pursuits, and project delivery.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related discipline. Advanced degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional experience, preferably within technology consulting, professional services, engineering consulting, or a related client-facing environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing client relationships, strategic accounts, business development, and/or complex technology programs.
  • Demonstrated history of growing client relationships and developing new business opportunities.
  • Experience managing technology projects involving multiple technical disciplines and stakeholders.
  • Project management certification such as PMP is preferred but not required.
  • Experience within the water, infrastructure, energy, utilities, transportation, government, or other Stantec client sectors is preferred.

This is a role for someone who can build relationships, grow accounts, sell technology consulting services, and lead teams to deliver complex technology solutions.
About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year.
