This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Circuit 06-2 New Port Richey.

The purpose of a Senior Criminal Justice Information Technician at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to oversee and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timely processing of criminal justice information. This role involves supervising and guiding junior technicians, managing complex data entry and retrieval tasks, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures.

 This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Collects and enters data about offenders into various criminal justice computer systems, ensuring accuracy and following department rules.
  • Analyzes and updates information from documents like court orders, law enforcement records, and offender files using standardized codes.
  • Sends and receives information about offenders and applicants through state and national crime information systems and explains the results to others.
  • Answers questions from authorized personnel about the data in the criminal justice systems and ensures staff follow criminal justice standards.
  • Keeps confidential information secure, maintains records of information sharing, and performs routine maintenance on office equipment.

Vocational/technical training in an area of secretarial or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.
