POSITION OVERVIEW APPLICATIONS ACCEPTED FROM: ALL PERSONS INTERESTED ******SUMMER ONLY***** DIVISION: SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM REPORTING LOCATION: VARIOUS* WORKDAYS & HOURS: M - F, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.* *Subject to change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The Houston Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to building a sustainable community and enhancing the quality of urban life by providing safe well-maintained parks and offering affordable programming for our community. To achieve this mission, HPARD is seeking a Senior Data Entry Operator (Seasonal)to join its Recreation and Wellness team

The potential candidate will play a key role in the following duties: Act as a lead worker monitoring the input and output of various data to provide information necessary for processing administrative reports in the daily operations of the Summer Food Services Program (SFSP). Receive and distribute documents to the Data Entry Operator on a daily basis. Check data and monitor workflow.

Research files, retrieve and file documents. Maintain records and prepare standard reports and payroll input. Operate office machines, such as a calculator, computer, and copier.

Answer phone and respond to inquiries that relate to the Summer Food Services Program. Perform other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS The position occasionally requires stooping or bending.

Occasional very light lifting, such as three or four reams of papers or books (up to 20 pounds or an equivalent weight) may be required. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation and mathematical functions as might be acquired through specialized training of up to 9 months of education or training beyond the high school level. May have simple vocational competence in the operation of mechanical or electronic equipment.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Two (2) years of data entry experience or clerical/secretarial experience with a heavy volume of typing are required. LICENSE REQUIREMENTS None PREFERENCES Preference shall be given to those applicants with the following attributes: Fluent bilingual (English and Spanish applicants.) Proficient in Excel **Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.** GENERAL INFORMATION SELECTION/SKILLS TESTS REQUIRED The selection process will involve application review and/or interview. SAFETY IMPACT POSITION YES If yes, this position is subject to random drug testing and if a promotional position, candidate must pass an assignment drug test

SALARY INFORMATION Factors used in determining the salary offered include the candidate's qualifications as well as the pay rates of other employees in this classification.
