Job Summary:
Axelon Services Corporation is seeking a Senior Data Center Engineer to provide essential infrastructure management for their data center operations. This role involves overseeing policies, processes, equipment, and data for overall data center support, as well as managing daily workloads and collaborating with various teams to ensure operational efficiency.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Design and prepare data center white space to ensure power, space, cooling (airflow/temperature), and infrastructure standards are met.
โ€ข Provide general IT Infrastructure skills with a systematic approach to troubleshooting equipment issues.
โ€ข Execute processes for data center IT asset lifecycle management from installation to operational support, and ultimately asset retirement. Handle installation/de-installation of network cabling and ensure PII data is handled within Client guidelines.
โ€ข Manage daily workload and after-hours support of on-site cable vendors, including issuing operational work requests via Service Now.
โ€ข Move equipment, racks, and materials between physical locations in the same data center.
โ€ข Create CAD templates and set new design standards for High-Density deployments.
โ€ข Generate and distribute reports connected to the operation of a data center.
โ€ข Support engineers in understanding VLAN and network requirements for new IT infrastructure technologies.
โ€ข Perform Asset Management tasks in Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and maintain CAD and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) elevation/floorplan data.
โ€ข Prepare electrical quotes, manage circuit installation, prepare cabinets with power distribution, and maintain PDU schedules.
โ€ข Act as the first point of contact for connectivity, power, cooling anomalies and perform on-call roles on a rotational basis.
โ€ข Research, order, test, and select new technology products for data center solution delivery.
โ€ข Provide inventory tracking and updating to maintain a valid count of material and supplies.
โ€ข Monitor and respond to environmental, security, and equipment monitoring systems.
โ€ข Partner and engage with corporate services facilities management vendor for MEP/environmental data center issues.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Minimum of 5 yearsโ€™ experience performing maintenance and installation of mission critical infrastructure systems in a Data Center.
โ€ข Good collaboration skills with proven experience engaging with and partnering with peers and stakeholders. Experience providing IT technical customer support.
โ€ข Good written and oral communication skills.
โ€ข Knowledge of IT infrastructure hardware, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
โ€ข Ability to use DCIM and CAD software to aid in data center white-space capacity planning.
โ€ข Solid Microsoft Office skills and experience using Collaboration software such as Microsoft Teams/SharePoint and Zoom.
โ€ข Capability to work in a physically demanding environment.
