Schedule: 40 hours per week (Monday – Friday)


Ability to commute/relocate: Leeds, LS15 8GB – reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required). 


The Senior Data Analyst will be expected to fulfil all aspects of the ‘Data Analyst’ role regarding cleaning, organisation and set-up of data. They will also be expected to undertake complete management of research projects from a data perspective, investigate new areas and avenues of research, help develop junior members of the team, and taken an active role in internal and external communication regarding most statistical techniques conducted within the business.


Project Resourcing

  • Workload – Use Asana to organise and delegate project work to the right members of the team. Proactively and independently flagging resource crunches ahead of time to the Director of Data Analytics.
  • Timings – Ensure the team is delivering data and survey scripts on time and accurately.

Project Management

  • Capability – Coordinate with research teams and able to make recommendations regarding types of analysis which can be conducted, as well as ongoing updates regarding general team capabilities and new techniques.
  • Design – Full involvement with the research design methodology as required, either during kick-off or client calls. Able to create experimental designs for complex ‘block’ projects as well as for Max-Diffs etc.
  • Timings – Complete oversight and ownership of project timings, ensuring all team members are aware of when specific checkpoints are happening, as well as coordinating with projects teams to help navigate any change to timings.
  • Kick-off calls – Attend kick-off calls for all projects they are managing, full involvement with timings, feasibility and design details as required. Update the team planner.
  • Deliverables – Accountability for final deliverables, either personally checked, or ensuring that checks are completed. Including raw data, data tables, statistical analysis, and reports as required.

Data Cleaning and Organisation

  • Project Monitoring – Oversight of Field Work projects from beginning to end, coordinating with the research team to ensure that everything is on track and that targets are being met. Able to make recommendations about further actions to be taken should they be needed.
  • Cleaning and set-up – Full cleaning of raw data, following the ‘MODE’ system (Missing, Opens, Duplicates, Everything else) – to identify the highest quality participants on a given study. Able to stack sequential monadic data correctly, and merge with screener data correctly. Able to merge multiple datasets if the project requires. Will be able to create clean ‘final’ data files as needed. Able to set up raw data files in Q, and organise all question names and numbers as required. Ensure all elements within Q are accounted for, including table set-up, cross-tab generation and basic statistical tests applied to all questions.
  • Checking – Able to fully check other team members work on all of the above.

Statistical Analysis

  • Knowledge – Can speak clearly and accurately on all statistical analysis techniques used within the team, as well as the foundational statistical tests used (t-test, Chi-squared, MCCs etc.). Able to explain why each are used and recognise when techniques may need to be adapted.
  • Basic statistical analysis packages – Able to conduct all basis statistical tests as per Data Analyst Role – Key Drivers, Correspondence, Penalty, Brand Image Profiles, Pricing, TURF, 
  • Advanced statistical techniques – Full capability with advanced statistical techniques involving multiple stages or machine learning such as Segmentation, Max Diff, Path Modelling etc. and make recommendations about them to the research teams.
  • Leverage – Full ability to leverage knowledge of statistics to help solve research questions. 
  • Checking – Able to fully check other team members work on all of the above.

Survey Scripting

  • Adding questions – Able to add all questions into programming software across all required question types. Able to create new question styles to match questionnaire specifications as needed.
  • Routing logic – Able to route participants correctly from one question to another, wither using redirect logic, skip logic, or basic survey block design. Able to screen out participants correctly, ensuring they see no more questions than required and are recorded correctly.
  • Quotas – Able to create accurate quotas for all projects.
  • Survey design – Capable at creating an efficient and functioning ‘block design’ for projects which require it. Navigating consumers through the correct avenues of the survey.
  • Redirects – Can correctly add redirects for completes, screen-outs, and quota fulls.
  • Checking – Able to fully check other team members work on all of the above.

Development and Communication

  • Research teams – Key liaison with the client facing teams, able to speak knowledgeably and effectively on all aspects of the Oracle teams working, and make recommendations and suggestions as needed.
  • Team Members – Help promote/develop junior team members alongside the Director of Data Analytics and above.
  • Clients – Active presence in client-facing communications, attending meetings and providing knowledge and expertise to advise on fieldwork decisions. 
  • Research & Processes – Take an active role in determining future avenues of research or improvement of processes.

Requirements

  • A degree in a relevant field such as statistics, data analytics, market research, psychology, mathematics or a related discipline can be helpful, but is not essential; we’re open to candidates with diverse backgrounds and strong relevant skills
  • Relevant experience in data analytics within research or insight, including data cleaning and organisation, statistical analysis, survey scripting, project management, checking deliverables and communicating technical recommendations to research teams or clients
  • Ability to commute/relocate to Leeds, LS15 8GB – reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
  • Must have the right to work in the UK and will need to bring proof to the interview e.g. a passport or work permit.

You’re highly analytical, organised and detail orientated, with a strong interest in how high-quality data and robust analysis can unlock better research decisions. You enjoy solving complex problems, working collaboratively with researchers and clients, and finding clear, practical ways to explain data and statistical techniques.


You will bring strong experience in data analytics within a research, insight or market research environment, with the confidence to manage multiple projects from a data perspective. You will be comfortable cleaning and organising complex datasets, setting up data in Q, creating and checking tables, applying statistical tests, and helping research teams decide which analysis techniques are most appropriate. Experience with techniques such as key drivers, correspondence analysis, penalty analysis, brand image profiles, pricing, TURF, segmentation, Max Diff or path modelling would be highly valuable. You’ll also be confident in survey scripting, routing logic, quotas and checking the work of others, while being proactive, collaborative and able to support junior members of the team.
