Job Description
Senior Credit Officer - Community Banking
We are partnering with a highly respected community bank seeking an experienced Senior Credit Officer to join its leadership team.
This is an outstanding opportunity for an accomplished credit professional to take on a key leadership role within a financially strong institution that values sound credit practices, local decision-making, strong relationships, and long-term employee success.
The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining the overall quality of the bankโ€™s loan portfolio while partnering closely with lenders and executive leadership on credit decisions, loan structure, policy, risk management, and portfolio strategy. This position is ideal for an experienced credit professional who understands community banking and can balance prudent risk management with the needs of lenders, customers, and the communities the bank serves.
Responsibilities
  • Provide senior-level oversight of credit administration and overall portfolio quality.
  • Review, analyze, and approve commercial credits within established lending authority.
  • Evaluate complex commercial real estate, C&I, agricultural, and other business credits.
  • Partner with lenders on loan structure, risk identification, and credit decisions.
  • Monitor portfolio trends, concentrations, criticized/classified assets, and emerging credit risks.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and ongoing review of credit policies and procedures.
  • Ensure lending and credit practices remain consistent with regulatory requirements and bank policy.
  • Work closely with executive leadership on credit strategy and portfolio management.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and credit expertise to lenders, analysts, and other credit personnel.
  • Assist with regulatory examinations, loan reviews, audits, and other credit-related initiatives.
  • Promote a strong credit culture while supporting responsible growth throughout the organization.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of commercial banking and credit experience, preferably within a community or regional bank.
  • Strong background in commercial credit analysis, underwriting, loan structuring, and portfolio management.
  • Experience with commercial real estate and C&I lending; SBA or Agricultural credit experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated understanding of credit risk management, loan policy, regulatory expectations, and asset quality.
  • Prior credit approval authority and experience evaluating complex commercial transactions.
  • Leadership or management experience within credit administration strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively partner with lenders, executive leadership, and regulators.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to balance disciplined credit standards with the bankโ€™s growth objectives.
