We are seeking a highly analytical and technically proficient Counterparty Credit Risk Analyst who enjoys combining financial analysis with data analytics, automation, and technology to improve how counterparty risk is measured, monitored, and managed.
This role is ideal for someone who is equally comfortable analyzing financial statements and building automated Excel models, querying large datasets, and developing dashboards that provide actionable risk insights.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the firm's counterparties, products, transactions, and counterparty credit risk management framework.
  • Perform financial and qualitative analysis of counterparties, including broker-dealers, banks, asset managers, insurance companies, hedge funds, and other financial institutions.
  • Monitor counterparty creditworthiness through analysis of financial performance, ratings actions, market indicators, industry developments, and news events.
  • Monitor and analyze counterparty exposures, limits, concentrations, and utilization trends across counterparties and industry sectors.
  • Extract, transform, and analyze large datasets by querying Oracle and other enterprise databases using SQL, Excel, and other analytical tools to support counterparty monitoring, exposure analysis, portfolio surveillance, and management reporting.
  • Identify emerging risks and potential deterioration in counterparty credit profiles through ongoing surveillance and early warning monitoring.
  • Design, develop, and maintain automated analytical processes, Excel models, SQL queries, dashboards, and AI-enabled workflows that improve the efficiency, consistency, and scalability of counterparty credit risk analysis.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to streamline manual processes through automation, scripting, workflow redesign, and continuous process improvement.
  • Conduct research on financial institutions, capital markets developments, regulatory changes, and macroeconomic trends relevant to counterparty risk.
  • Prepare concise, insightful reporting and presentations for senior management, risk committees, and Board-level audiences.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance dashboards, automated reporting processes, and data visualizations supporting counterparty credit risk oversight.
  • Support counterparty onboarding, annual reviews, risk assessments, and credit approval processes.
  • Partner with stakeholders across Risk, Treasury, Operations, Capital Markets, Legal, and Data & Technology teams to strengthen risk management capabilities.
  • Support risk framework enhancements, limit management initiatives, stress testing exercises, and strategic projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of:
  • Fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of counterparty credit risk management.
  • Financial statement analysis and credit assessment methodologies.
  • Financial institutions, capital markets, investment products, and market participants.
  • Exposure measurement concepts, including current exposure, potential future exposure, concentration risk, wrong way risk and limit management.
Skill in:
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Financial statement analysis and credit assessment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex topics clearly and concisely.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, PivotTables, Power Query, Power Pivot, dynamic arrays, VBA, spreadsheet automation, financial modeling, and integrating Excel with Oracle and other SQL databases for automated data retrieval and analysis.
  • Experience writing SQL queries to retrieve, transform, and analyze data from Oracle or other relational databases.
  • Data visualization, dashboard development, reporting automation, and analytical reporting techniques.
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot or ChatGPT) to improve analytical workflows, documentation, reporting, and productivity is preferred.
Ability to:

Educational and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, Data Analytics, Business, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • 2-3 years of experience in financial services, preferably in counterparty credit risk, credit risk, financial institutions analysis, capital markets, risk analytics, or portfolio management.
  • Experience analyzing financial institutions and market participants is preferred.
  • Experience developing analytical and reporting solutions using advanced Excel, SQL, Oracle databases, and similar analytical tools. Experience with automation and workflow improvement is strongly preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
