Job description

B.L. Harbert International is seeking a Cost Engineer to work in our International Division in Austin, Texas. The Cost Engineer will help ensure the contractual requirements are followed through the project life cycle, RFP phase through substantial completion. This includes ensuring that all work is completed on time, budget and to the highest of standards. The Cost Engineer will support the Senior Cost Engineer, Contracts Managers and Project Engineers in resolving issues and maintaining client and subcontractor relationships.
Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Project Engineers on scheduling and pricing
  • Review contracts, highlight any potential problems and propose solutions to the construction team and executives
  • Develop and enforce risk management parameters
  • Interpret and explain language of contract
  • Prepare and negotiate contract variations and pursuance of disputed items
  • Provide redlined recommendations on contracts
  • Maintain and update contractual records, changes, status reports, and other information as needed
  • Work in partnership with legal and financial teams on contract requirements

Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Demands:
To perform the duties of this job, the employee must:
  • Have the ability to repetitively use hands to grasp, reach above and below with arms, and work overhead
  • Have the ability to stoop, bend, walk, kneel, crouch and crawl
  • Have the ability to lift, carry and/or move up to 25 lbs. of weight in the form of paper, boxes, files, etc.
  • Have the ability to sit for extended periods with occasional standing required
  • Possess the manual dexterity to operate office equipment, filing, and perform specialized skills
  • Possess a high degree of concentration necessary in a busy office environment
