Summary

The Associate Creative Director (Copy) is an idea generator, storyteller, and creative leader who transforms insight into language that makes people stop, think, and act. In this role, you'll define and elevate the Aspen Dental voice, creating work that's as strategic as it is emotional, as bold as it is human, helping shape one of the most breakthrough brands in healthcare: Aspen Dental.

You will lead and mentor a small team of writers while remaining hands-on in the work concepting and writing across every medium including CRM, digital, social, video, broadcast, and in-office. You'll drive messaging that makes care feel accessible, personal, and modern, while ensuring consistency and excellence across all brand touchpoints.

As a creative leader, you'll also explore and champion emerging technologies, including AI-powered tools, to enhance creative development, streamline workflows, and scale content production while maintaining the highest standards of quality, originality, and brand integrity.

Essential Responsibilities:

Creative Leadership & Team Management

  • Manage and mentor a team of 4-6 copywriters, providing clear direction, thoughtful feedback, and ongoing development.

  • Foster a culture of creative excellence through coaching, mentorship, performance feedback, and career development.

  • Oversee and elevate copy across projects, ensuring consistency in voice, tone, and messaging quality.

  • Establish and uphold creative standards for storytelling, messaging, and copy craft across all customer touchpoints, starting with CRM.

Concepting & Creative Direction

  • Lead development of ideas that connect creative strategy with emotional storytelling, shaping brand experiences that resonate.

  • Guide messaging across integrated campaigns, ensuring clarity, cohesion, and impact.

  • Translate business objectives and customer insights into breakthrough creative platforms, campaigns, and messaging frameworks.

Copywriting & Execution

  • Write compelling, on-brand copy across a wide range of deliverables, from 360 campaigns to headlines, scripts, and long-form content.

Voice Development

  • Partner closely with art directors, designers, producers, marketers, and business stakeholders to develop integrated creative solutions that drive brand and business outcomes.

  • Align creative output with broader business and marketing objectives.

AI Innovation & Workflow Optimization

  • Explore, evaluate, and integrate AI-powered tools and emerging technologies to enhance ideation, content creation, and creative workflows.

  • Identify opportunities to scale content production and improve team efficiency while preserving creative quality and brand standards.

  • Partner with creative and marketing leadership to establish best practices for responsible and effective AI use within the creative process.

Presentation & Influence

  • Communicate ideas with confidence and clarity, presenting work that is grounded in insight and crafted with precision.

  • Present creative concepts and strategic rationale to senior leaders, building alignment and advocacy across cross-functional teams.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Advertising, English, Journalism, or related field (or equivalent experience.)

  • 10+ years of experience in copywriting for integrated campaigns in agency or in-house settings.

  • Strong CRM/email marketing background.

  • Experience working with art directors, designers, strategists, and production partners.

  • Prior experience mentoring or managing writers preferred.

  • Portfolio demonstrating conceptual range, brand storytelling, and creative versatility across channels.

  • Strong command of tone, structure, and rhythm in both long- and short-form copy.

  • Skilled presenter who can articulate creative rationale with conviction and clarity.

  • Experience leveraging AI-powered tools to support content development, creative ideation, workflow optimization, or scaled content production.

  • Experience with Adobe and Workfront preferred.

  • Advanced Figma experience required.

  • Demonstrated curiosity about emerging technologies and a willingness to experiment with new approaches that enhance creative effectiveness.

  • Base Salary Range:$105,000 - $120,000 with a 10% bonus (Actual pay may vary based on experience, performance, and qualifications.)

  • This position will be based on-site in our Fulton Market location in Chicago, IL.
