Job description

Assistant Controller– Concord, NH
Salary: 120K
Raven Ridge has partnered with a mission driven organization who is hiring for an Assistant Controller. This is an excellent opportunity for an Accounting Manager, Senior Accountant, or Assistant Controller seeking a leadership role with a respected organization making a positive impact in the community.

Working closely with the management team, the Assistant Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, ensure timely and accurate financial reporting, support audit and compliance efforts, and help identify opportunities to strengthen internal processes and reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Oversee the month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis.
  • Review balance sheet accounts, investments, and other financial assets to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with the annual budget process, forecasting, and financial variance analysis.
  • Coordinate and support external audits, tax filings, and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls while ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and organizational policies.
  • Supervise and mentor members of the accounting team, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development.
  • Review work for accuracy and help establish best practices within the department.
  • Serve as a resource for accounting questions and partner with departments across the organization to support financial operations.
  • Evaluate existing accounting processes and recommend improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Work with finance and IT teams to enhance financial reporting and system functionality.
  • Assist in developing management reports and dashboards that provide meaningful financial insights.
  • Participate in accounting software upgrades, system implementations, and other technology initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
  • Previous leadership experience is highly desirable.
  • CPA or CMA certification is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with financial system implementations is a plus.
