Job Description Summary

The Senior OT Cyber Security Engineer will be a key leader in ensuring the security of our high-power operational technology (OT) solutions across the entire project lifecycleโ€”from initial sales support and costing to hands-on development, rigorous testing, and project execution. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project leadership, and commercial acumen to integrate industry-leading cybersecurity into complex, mission-critical systems deployed in Marine, Industry, and Grid applications for the GE Vernova Power Conversion and Storage Solutions we provide.

The required work location is Findlay Township, PA (financial assistance provided if not already local).

Job DescriptionEssential Responsibilities:
  • Lead the cyber security execution for major customer projects, ensuring all requirements are met on time and within budget.
  • Serve as the technical authority for cybersecurity, directing project teams and communicating effectively with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • Manage project-specific cyber risk assessments, defining scope, resources, and deliverables for security activities.
  • Design, develop, and integrate cyber security features and controls directly into GE Vernova's OT system solutions (e.g., control systems, power electronics, energy storage platforms).
  • Conduct hands-on vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security hardening of both hardware and software components.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive Security Assurance Plans and test procedures to validate compliance with international standards (e.g., IEC 62443, NIST CSF, ABS Cyber) and customer specifications.
  • Apply knowledge of IEC 61850 to secure Substation Automation Systems, including securing specific protocols like GOOSE.
  • Drive the selection, configuration, and deployment of security tools and technologies such as NIDS/HIDS, firewalls, and endpoint protection in an OT environment.
  • Stay current with emerging cyber security threats, industry regulations (e.g., NERC-CIP for Grid), and best practices relevant to Marine, Industrial, and Energy domains.
  • Collaborate with the Inquiry to Order team to provide expert input on cyber security requirements and solutions. While also developing competitive and accurate cost estimates for cyber security scope of work, including hardware, software, services, and labor.
  • Contribute to customer proposals and presentations, articulating the value and technical details of our cyber security offerings to win new business.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field from an accredited university.
  • Proven experience leading project execution and integrating security into delivered systems with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Operational Technology or Industrial Control Systems cyber security.
Desired Characteristics
  • Knowledge of recognized IT & OT Security-related standards and technologies
  • Deep technical understanding of IEC 61850 standards, architecture, and protocols (MMS, GOOSE, SMV), and the associated security standard IEC 62351.
  • Experience in securing devices and communications within an IEC 61850-based Substation or Distributed Energy Resource (DER) network.
  • Cyber Security Certification(s) such as CISSP, GICSP, CISM, or relevant vendor certifications.
  • Deep understanding of security standards such as IEC 62443 (all parts), NERC-CIP, or DNV/ABS Marine Cyber Rules.
  • Hands-on experience with control systems (e.g., PLCs, DCS), SCADA, and real-time operating systems.
  • Experience with software development and scripting for security tooling and automation.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for both technical and commercial audiences.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required for project support and customer engagement

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $113,200.00 and $188,800.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidateโ€™s experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
