Job description

Civeo Water Canada Employees LP is recruiting for a result driven and committed Level 1, Level 2 & Level 3 Water and Wastewater Operators. Being an integral part of Civeo team and based out of the Fort McMurray Region.

Water and Wastewater Operators are responsible for utilizing Membrane, UV technology, performing daily labs and monitoring plant performance. The successful candidate will report to the Utilities Manager and will work 14 days on 14 days off rotation. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure certification and required safety and procedure training is valid and up to date.
  • Learn and comply with all Civeo policies, procedures & safety requirements.
  • Controlling the operation, monitoring, and inspection of process equipment within plants including pumps and motors, compressors, screens, overhead crane, membranes, chemical pumps, and associated equipment.  Process operations are continuously monitored for performance within specification.
  • Interprets process control data (SCADA) and lab data against performance standards; initiates required adjustments to equipment within the plant to ensure effective and efficient processing and advises the Senior Operator or other operators when conditions within the system warrant.
  • Provides guidance to Junior operators.
  • Performs daily monitoring of Potable water systems.
  • Carry out weekly bacteriological tests on site and biweekly bacteriological tests at other camps. 
  • Performs manual calculations of flow rates, pumping times, 
  • Performs routine lab process tests to optimize treatment processes throughout the plant.
  • Records data readings on operations log sheets and computer spread sheets and assists senior personnel with the interpretation of performance data to adjust process control.
  • Provides appropriate reports and verbal summaries to incoming Shift Relief Operations personnel, including emergent and unusual situations that have occurred during the current shift.
  • Performs a variety of plant operations maintenance duties including equipment and tank cleaning and maintenance, instrumentation calibration, custodial, and other routine procedures.

 Qualifications:

  • A certified operator with a minimum of a Level 2 or 3 certification in Water and Wastewater Treatment, Distribution and Collection 
  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience in the water and wastewater industry. 
  • Must be able to pass Pre-Access drug and alcohol testing.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's License, with a 5-year driving record satisfactory to Civeo's Vehicle Use & Safe Driving Policy
  • Proficiency in MS Windows, MS Office
  • Mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Attention to details, accuracy, and strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively manage time to meet required deadlines
  • Great communication skills
  • Strong focus on safety, quality of work and environmental awareness
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Physically fit with the ability to lift > 50lbs
  • On Call every night
  • Must be able work 14 days on and 14 days off rotation schedule working 10 hours per day depending on location and stay in the company lodges in remote locations.
