Job description


Perform computer aided drafting (CAD) for preparation of engineering drawings using industry appropriate software. Uses standard symbol sets and drawings to minimize drawing effort. Performs hand drafting as needed. May reference information from vendor prints, catalogs, and technical manuals.
Responsibilities
  • Serves as the drafting lead, discipline designer and/or drafting approver on multiple projects. The position is responsible for providing illustrated computerized drafting according to project specifications.
  • Develop and prepare engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, specification sheets and other data, using computer-aided design (CAD), according to client specifications.
  • Submit documentation packages and produce drawing sets and standard operating procedures.
  • Check and verify design drawings to conform to specifications and design data
  • Trains subordinate CAD Operators and helps establish drafting standards for the company.
  • Purchases or recommends purchase of all needed hardware and supplies.
  • Acts as initial contact with clients or other departments, ensures the CAD systems are kept up to data with current hardware/software and ensures equipment is properly maintained.
  • Classify and organize engineering drawings.
  • Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects. Participate in pre-task planning. Report any safety issues or concerns to management.
  • Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.

Qualifications
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5-7 years practical CAD experience.
  • Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in graphic or drafting technology preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.
