Job Title: Sr. Cloud Operations EngineerLocation-Type: Hybrid, Charlotte, NC (Tues/Wed/Thurs onsite)Start Date: ASAPDuration: Contract-to-Hire, 12 monthsCompensation Range: $45.53/hr - $59/hrBenefits: Eligible for Health, Dental, Vision, and 401KVisa Sponsorship: Not eligible for visa sponsorshipJob Description:The client is seeking a Sr. Cloud Operations Engineer to provide technical expertise and automation support for cloud infrastructure, security, and site reliability functions across the organization.Job Summary•Develop and maintain operational automation scripts written in PowerShell, orchestrated via cloud-based toolsets•Oversee security and risk management by partnering with the security team to maintain appropriate security posture, manage vulnerabilities, audit logging, certificate management, and password rotations•Manage monitoring and alerting solutions across infrastructure, endpoints, and user access to ensure resilience and proper coverage•Support site reliability engineering by promoting automation for provisioning, updating, and maintaining cloud resources, operating systems, and platforms•Coordinate business continuity activities including annual disaster recovery exercises, backup and recovery practices, and non-production data refresh activities•Engage with development teams to provide pipeline support in accordance with security practices and ensure proper source code management•Assist the Cloud Operations Product Owner in defining and prioritizing backlog items to align team efforts with department strategy and maximum value deliveryMinimum Requirements:•4 years of experience in cloud operations or a similar infrastructure engineering role•Extensive knowledge of core computing concepts including compute, networking, security, platforms, and cloud environments•Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS preferred; GCP or Azure accepted)•Proficiency with infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code practices•Experience writing PowerShell and/or Bash scripting languages•Familiarity with Agile/Scrum environments and collaborative team workflows•Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively across teamsPreferred Qualifications:•Experience working with CI/CD pipelines, preferably Microsoft Azure DevOps (willingness to learn is accepted in place of direct experience)•Experience with orchestration toolsets, preferably AWS Systems Manager•Exposure to AWS CDK projects or CloudFormation•Experience planning, designing, and implementing large-scale technology rollouts•Mentorship experience or demonstrated leadership potential
