Position Description:
CGI Federal is seeking a skilled Senior Cloud Engineer to support the deployment, migration, optimization, and operational management of cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure. This role focuses on hands on engineering, implementation, and troubleshooting of cloud environments while supporting cloud architecture direction set by senior technical leadership. The Senior Cloud Engineer will work closely with application teams, data engineers, and operational staff to ensure secure, efficient, and reliable cloud services across the organization.
This position is located in Arlington, VA.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
Cloud Engineering & Implementation
Execute cloud migration activities including application, database, and infrastructure deployments to Azure.
Perform hands on configuration of Azure services such as compute, storage, networking, identity, monitoring, and automation components.
Support the build out of scalable, secure, and resilient cloud environments based on architectural guidance.
Implement infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as ARM/Bicep, Terraform, or Azure DevOps pipelines.
Cloud Operations & Optimization
Maintain and optimize Azure resources for performance, cost efficiency, and operational reliability.
Participate in monitoring, alerting, incident response, and troubleshooting of cloud environments.
Assist in developing and maintaining DR/BCP configurations and failover procedures.
Contribute to automation initiatives to streamline deployments, patching, and cloud operations.
Migration Support
Evaluate existing systems for cloud readiness and assist in migration planning and execution.
Work with cross functional teams to ensure applications migrate smoothly with minimal business disruption.
Troubleshoot integration issues related to identity, networking, data, and application configuration.
Security & Compliance
Implement cloud security measures including identity and access management, encryption, logging, and policy enforcement.
Ensure solutions follow compliance and security best practices as defined by leadership and federal guidelines.
Resolve vulnerabilities and support continuous improvement in cloud security posture.
Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with Cloud Architects to translate high level designs into executable engineering tasks.
Partner with developers, data teams, and enterprise IT to support cloud adoption and integration.
Provide timely updates, documentation, and support artifacts to stakeholders and leadership.
Stay current with Azure services, engineering practices, and evolving cloud technologies.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
Hands on experience deploying and managing workloads in Microsoft Azure.
Proficiency with Azure services such as VMs, App Services, VNets, Azure AD, Storage, Key Vault, Monitor, and Automation.
Experience supporting cloud migrations, performance tuning, and operational troubleshooting.
Ability to collaborate effectively with architects, developers, and cross functional engineering teams.
Understanding of cloud security principles, IAM practices, and compliance requirements.
Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with attention to detail.
Desired qualifications/non essential skills required:
Experience with Databricks, Power BI, or big data tools.
Familiarity with data warehousing concepts or analytics workloads.
Experience with automation, scripting, or CI/CD (PowerShell, Python, Azure DevOps).
Exposure to hybrid cloud, VPN/ExpressRoute, and cloud networking concepts.
Knowledge of federal security frameworks (FedRAMP, DoD IL environments) is a plus.

The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and licensure and certifications. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $79,600.00 $194,000.00.
