Job description

Position Overview

Senior Structural Engineer โ€“ Strengthening Division, Columbia, Maryland

Responsibilities
  • Review project documents, survey reports, and other data supporting construction projects.
  • Develop and participate in field investigations and condition assessments of structures.
  • Conduct structural analysis and develop repair and strengthening concepts.
  • Develop construction drawings and communicate details with clients, engineers, and construction crews.
Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s or masterโ€™s degree in Structural/Civil Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of experience evaluating and designing concrete structures.
  • Experience in design for gravity loads and latera loadโ€‘resisting systems.
  • Good understanding of Civil and Structural Codes (ACI318, ACI562, ASCE7).
  • Knowledge of FRP composite or postโ€‘tension design is a plus.
  • Strong writing and communication skills with ability to interact with clients, engineers, and construction crews.
  • Ability to generate structural models using software such as RAM, ADAPT, ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000 or similar.
  • Ability to perform preliminary and detailed engineering calculations, coordinate with drafters, and prepare technical submittal packages and reports.
  • Teamโ€‘andโ€‘solution oriented with a positive attitude.
  • PE/SE registration required.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers.
  • Capable of working effectively in a highly collaborative, teamโ€‘based environment, setting goals, holding others accountable, and being approachable, empathetic, and outgoing.
