Job description

Tract Capital adopts a unique approach to digital infrastructure investment. Leveraging experience and strategic insights honed over three decades of creating successful companies in the space, we excel in nurturing and advancing leading-edge digital infrastructure enterprises. Our team of specialized experts are united by a singular purpose: to support the growth of digital infrastructure. Tract Capital goes beyond simple investment by acting as a strategic partner and catalyst for innovation within the sector. We ensure our engagements not only generate strong financial results but also develop essential digital infrastructure to meet growing demands. Tract Capital has introduced two digital infrastructure strategies. The first is a horizontal powered land strategy focused on creating master planned data center campuses called Tract. The second is the mega-campus vertical development strategy called Fleet Data Centers.

The Senior Civil Engineer owns civil site design and land development for our behind-the-meter (BTM) power generation facilities and data center campus infrastructure. This role leads site planning, grading, utilities, stormwater, and permitting activities from early feasibility through construction, coordinating closely with EPC partners, environmental consultants, and local jurisdictions to deliver compliant, construction-ready civil packages on aggressive schedules.

How will you make a difference?
  • Own civil site design and Basis of Design (BOD) for BTM power generation facilities and associated data center campus infrastructure, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities routing, and access roads.
  • Lead land development activities from site feasibility through construction documents: topographic analysis, geotechnical coordination, site layout optimization, and AHJ engagement.
  • Manage civil permitting processes including grading permits, NPDES/stormwater permits, SWPPP, floodplain analysis (FEMA/FIRM), and local land use entitlements.
  • Coordinate with structural, mechanical, electrical, and process disciplines to ensure civil design integrates equipment pads, fuel systems, exhaust routing, and heavy transport/access requirements.
  • Develop and review civil drawings, specifications, and QA/QC packages; manage deliverable schedules with EPC civil subconsultants.
  • Support site selection activities including due diligence, constraints mapping, and civil constructability assessments for greenfield and brownfield sites.
  • Engage directly with local municipalities, utility authorities, and state agencies to advance permitting timelines and resolve design issues.
  • Develop civil standards, design guidelines, and BOD templates to support Fleet's repeatable, scalable site delivery model.
  • Support commissioning and site acceptance activities; troubleshoot civil-related construction issues during project execution.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required (or ability to obtain it within 12 months).
  • 7+ years in civil/site engineering for large-scale industrial, power generation, or mission-critical infrastructure projects.
Preferred Qualification
  • Experience supporting civil design for power plants, data centers, or large industrial campuses.
  • Familiarity with FEMA floodplain regulations, environmental permitting (CEQA/NEPA), and stormwater best management practices.
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or similar civil design software.
  • Experience managing civil scopes within EPC project delivery frameworks.
  • Familiarity with data center site infrastructure, BTM generation footprints, and heavy equipment pad design.
Expected Salary Range
  • Expected Salary Range: $120,000 - $150,000 Salary + Bonus
Travel

Travel as needed to vendors and sites up to ~25%.

May participate in on-call escalation during permitting or construction-critical milestones.
