Job description

The Software Engineering team embeds technical and AI capability directly into the business - going where the problems are, working alongside teams to understand their needs, and deploying solutions that make a real difference. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will partner with business teams across BETA to understand complex operational challenges, design and build software solutions, and stay with each engagement until the solution is working and adopted. This role requires equal parts engineering depth and interpersonal skill: you will build trust with non-technical stakeholders, translate ambiguous problems into clear technical designs, and ship high-quality software in a fast-moving environment.

How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:

  • Embed directly with business teams across BETA to identify, scope, and solve operational and technical problems
  • Design, develop, and deploy full-stack web applications, internal tools, and APIs that address real business needs
  • Leverage AI and LLM technologies to accelerate development and build intelligent workflows for the teams you support
  • Translate complex, ambiguous requirements from non-technical stakeholders into clear technical designs and working solutions
  • Assess technical feasibility of proposed requirements and communicate tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders
  • Contribute to intake and prioritization by surfacing new demand from the teams and products you engage with
  • Maintain technical documentation to facilitate knowledge transfer and long-term adoption of solutions
  • Acknowledge and learn from past mistakes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Proficiency in modern full-stack development (e.g., React/TypeScript and Python or Node.js)
  • Experience with agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Codex)
  • Experience with REST APIs, databases (SQL and/or NoSQL), and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Experience with version control (Git) and CI/CD pipelines
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, manage multiple priorities, and adapt rapidly to changing requirements

Above and Beyond Qualifications:

  • Previous experience at a startup or in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment
  • Experience building internal tools and enterprise applications
  • Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, or a regulated industry
  • Experience with enterprise system integrations (ERP, HRIS, PLM, QMS)
  • Track record of identifying, scoping, and delivering projects with minimal direction

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • This role requires the ability to work on-site at BETA facilities as needed to embed with the teams you support. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.
