Job description

Overview

Job Purpose

The New York Stock Exchange, a subsidiary of Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (ICE), is hiring a full-time Senior C/C++ Developer to build systems for a high-throughput, low-latency trading environment. The role spans the full software development lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, coding, unit testing, debugging, and production support. It calls for strong problem solving, professionalism, and clear communication, since the developer works closely with business and sales teams to meet strategic goals. The successful candidate will help deliver low-latency, high-capacity, error-free multi-asset routing applications, matching engines, and back-end systems that keep NYSE at the forefront of low-latency trading. In addition, the candidate will independently develop, validate, and productionize machine learning models, embedding them into latency-sensitive trading infrastructure while optimizing inference performance, scalability, and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze requirements and propose technical solutions that deliver projects within cost, time, and quality targets.
  • Work with project managers to build a work breakdown structure for each deliverable and provide realistic estimates.
  • Develop and unit test all new or modified functionality following software development best practices.
  • Collaborate with developers and QA engineers on integration, functional, and regression testing, and own the resolution of priority defects within your codebase.
  • Promote software changes across all environments, safely and responsibly, through to live production.
  • Provide on-call technical support during business hours and, on rotation, off-hours based on subject-matter expertise.
  • Contribute to team exercises that identify and implement continuous improvements.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering.
  • 5+ years of hands-on C/C++ development on Linux.
  • 2+ years of scripting experience, for example Python, Perl, or Bash.
  • Experience with C++ unit testing frameworks and continuous integration (CI) tools.
  • Experience with code analysis and coverage tools such as Coverity, Valgrind, and gcov.
  • Experience of gradient boosting model or deep learning model is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP and multicast network protocols.
  • Strong multithreading and performance-oriented programming skills.
  • Proficiency with AI-assisted coding tools (for example, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or similar), including effective prompting techniques and reviewing generated code.

New York Base Salary Range

The expected base salary for this role, if located in New York, is between $150,000 - 210,000 USD. The base salary range does not include Intercontinental Exchange's incentive compensation. While we provide this range as general guidance, at ICE we compensate employees based on the skillset and experience of the individual. Regular full-time ICE employees are eligible for a suite of competitive employee benefits, including healthcare coverage (medical, dental and vision), a 401(k) plan, life insurance, time off, and paid leave for qualifying circumstances.
