Senior Business Systems Analyst

Position Summary

The Senior Business Systems Analyst is a business analysis and project management role responsible for leading technology implementations, process-improvement initiatives, and other assigned business-system projects.

This position serves as the primary liaison between Information Technology, business departments, leadership, vendors, and consultants. The role is responsible for gathering and documenting requirements, analyzing workflows, developing project plans, coordinating resources, tracking risks and deliverables, facilitating testing and training, and communicating project status from initiation through completion.

Core Responsibilities

Project Management

  • Lead assigned technology, system-implementation , integration, and process-improvement projects.
  • Develop andmaintainproject plans, schedules, milestones, action items, risks, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate activities among business departments, IT personnel, vendors, consultants, and leadership.
  • Facilitate project meetings, document decisions, and communicate project status and next steps.
  • Identifyproject risks, dependencies, scope concerns, and potential delays and escalate them when necessary.
  • Coordinate testing, training, implementation, go-live activities, and post-implementation follow-up.
  • Maintain organized project documentation, decision logs, status reports, and change records.

Business Analysis and Process Improvement

  • Meet with business stakeholders toidentifyoperational needs, system requirements, and desired outcomes.
  • Gather, analyze,validate, and document business and functional requirements.
  • Document current-state and future-state processes, workflows, roles, and approval paths.
  • Identifymanual processes, duplicate work, inefficiencies, and opportunities for automation or standardization.
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements for technical personnel, vendors, and consultants.
  • Assistdepartments in developing improved processes that support efficiency, accountability, and data quality.

Business Systems and Applications

  • Support the evaluation, selection, implementation, integration, and improvement of company business applications.
  • Serve as a liaison between system users, Information Technology, vendors, and consultants.
  • Coordinate application issues, enhancement requests, testing, data validation, and vendor support.
  • Support systems used by Finance, Accounting, Procurement, Operations, Human Resources, vessel operations, and other departments.
  • Participate in enterprise resource planning and other major company system initiatives.
  • Maintaindocumentation related to business systems, system owners, vendors, integrations, and business processes.

Testing, Training, and Documentation

  • Develop and coordinate test plans, test scenarios, user acceptance testing, and issue tracking.
  • Confirm that system changes meet documented requirements before implementation.
  • Create process documentation, user guides, training materials, and job aids.
  • Conduct or coordinate employee training, demonstrations, and implementation support.
  • Monitor user adoption and operational issues following system implementation.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, project updates, and supporting analysis for leadership.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, information systems, accounting, finance, project management, or a related field preferred, but notrequired. Equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
  • Five or more years of experience in business analysis, project management, systems implementation, process improvement, accounting operations, or a related business function.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating or leading cross-functional projects.
  • Experience supporting business-system implementations, integrations, upgrades, or significant process changes.
  • Experience gathering requirements and documenting business processes, procedures, and workflows.
  • Strong understanding of project schedules, milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, and deliverables.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiencywith Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Ability to work onsite in Houston and travel to other company locations whenrequired.

Preferred

  • Master of Business Administration or other relevant graduate degree .
  • Experience with financial, accounting, procurement, billing, dispatching, human-resources , or marine-operations systems.
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, business integrations, system consolidations, or organizational change.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, Helm, QuickBooks, JD Edwards, or similar business applications.
  • Experience developing process maps, training materials, test plans, and user acceptance testing documentation.
  • Familiarity with Power Query, reporting tools, workflow automation, or business-intelligence platforms.
