Job description

About the Role:

As a CBRE Chief Building Engineer Supervisor, you will lead facilities operations across a large hospital campus in Waco, TX. This is a supervisory role, focusing on strategic oversight, team leadership, and client relationship management, rather than hands‑on maintenance. The ideal candidate will be a polished and professional individual with a strong foundation in general maintenance, eager to develop into a comprehensive Facilities Management leader.

You will be instrumental in ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost‑effective operation of critical healthcare facilities, directly impacting patient care and operational excellence. Facilities Supervisors plan, direct, or coordinate operations and functionalities of facilities and buildings, which may include surrounding grounds or multiple facilities of an organization’s campus.

What You’ll Do:
  • Oversee all aspects of facilities operations across the hospital campus, ensuring a safe, functional, and compliant environment that supports critical healthcare services.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of eight direct reports, fostering an environment that encourages professional growth and prepares individuals for advanced Facilities Management roles.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and identify coaching opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
  • Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities, establish efficient work schedules, assign tasks, and implement cross-training initiatives to build a versatile workforce.
  • Set clear staff and department deadlines, ensuring all work activities are completed in a high‑quality and timely fashion.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate robust preventive maintenance programs and comprehensive safety procedure manuals.
  • Ensure that mechanics and technicians are equipped with the proper information, materials, and resources to execute their assignments effectively.
  • Apply advanced operational knowledge to seek out and implement new, more efficient methods for accomplishing departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Respond effectively to emergency situations, coordinating responses and escalating issues as necessary.
  • Oversee and meticulously manage operational budgets for facilities maintenance, actively seeking cost savings and ensuring all operations remain strictly within budgetary constraints.
  • Develop detailed material and labor cost estimates for work orders, preventive maintenance activities, system upgrades, and construction projects.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive reports on projects, services, and overall operational performance within the facility to senior management.
  • Establish and maintain accurate budgets for all facilities maintenance activities.
  • Apply advanced knowledge to seek and develop new, better methods for accomplishing both individual and department objectives.
  • Showcase expertise in own job discipline and in-depth knowledge of other job disciplines within the organization function.
  • Coach others to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in most or all areas within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels and of divergent interest, to adopt a different point of view.
  • Impact the achievement of customer, operational, project, or service objectives across multi‑discipline teams. Work is guided by functional policies which impact the design of procedures and policies.
  • Contribute to new products, processes, standards, and/or operational plans in support of achieving functional goals.
  • Communicate difficult and complex ideas with the ability to influence.
What You’ll Need:
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5‑8 years of job‑related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Prior shift manager or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • The innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.
  • Ability to solve unique problems using standard and innovative solutions having a broad impact on the business.
  • In‑depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Expert organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
  • Highly sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate somewhat complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial‑related calculations.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
