Summary

A Hotel General Manager for Bird Dog Hospitality is responsible for ‘captaining the entire ship’, or in our case, hotel. You will be responsible for all areas of operations and management at the property level, including generating financial and operating results, managing all personnel and departments, generating plans and strategies to accomplish our goals and vision, maintaining the property in like-new condition, driving world-class levels of guest service, and most importantly, living out our values and building our culture.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Drive financial performance of the entire business. Prepare annual hotel budget and operations plan.
  • Lead and inspire team to deliver a worldclass guest experience.
  • Develop systems, processes, and procedures to ensure operational excellence in all areas and departments.
  • Increase sales and revenue by promoting and marketing the business. Prepare annual sales and marketing plan.
  • Hire, develop, train, and empower all team members. Delegate responsibilities and projects.
  • Oversee and lead a positive, peoplefirst, and resultsdriven company culture.
  • Manages labor and controllable expenses across all departments.
  • Oversee revenue management and strategy on a daily basis.
  • Maintain the property in ‘like new’ condition. Establishes and maintains applicable preventative maintenance programs to protect the physical assets of the hotel. Supervise maintenance, supplies and furnishings.
  • Monitors the performance of the hotel through verification and analysis of guest satisfaction systems and monthly financial reports. Initiates corrective action. Address problems, including internal conflicts and guest complaints as they arise.
  • Establishes and maintains a proactive human resource function to ensure employee motivation, training and development, and wage/benefit.
  • Produce daily, weekly and monthend reports; forecasting & marketing strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with franchise requirements, licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
  • Maintains a security function which protects both the assets of the hotel and the personal safety of employees and guests.
  • Development and implementation of promotions, both internal and external.
  • Coordinates with various departments the activities related to group and book business, negotiate rate and service plans to meet budgeted revenue goals.
  • Maintains good rapport with local civic groups and companies
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by senior management.
  • Experience, Skills, and Education
  • 3+ years of strong management experience
  • Strong experience and passion for hospitality
  • Proven leadership experience and ability to train, develop, and motivate teams
  • Strong financial knowledge and ability to manage a P&L statement
  • Selfless, teamoriented, and always eager to improve
  • Proven ability to drive sales
  • Working knowledge of IT and computer systems
  • Good understanding of revenue generation and yield management
  • Able to motivate and train team to provide a worldclass guest experience
