Job description

The Senior Application Scientist will lead application-driven product validation and development for light scattering technologies, ensuring performance and readiness for product launches. This role also supports customer success through technical expertise, training, and scientific content development, serving as a key link between R&D, Product Management, and customers.


Product Validation & Development

  • Design and execute validation studies, methods, and workflows for new products.
  • Partner with R&D to evaluate performance, identify gaps, and drive improvements.
  • Generate validation reports and application data to support release readiness.
  • Support beta testing and contribute to product launch materials.

Marketing & Scientific Content

  • Author application notes, user guides, and technical content.
  • Support launches with data, messaging, and webinars.
  • Support product marketing initiatives.

Customer Applications Support

  • Provide expert technical support and troubleshoot application challenges.
  • Support documentation for installation, onboarding, and advanced use cases.
  • Partner with Sales and Service to resolve complex issues.

Training

  • Develop and deliver customer and field training programs.
  • Create and maintain training content and application workflows.
  • Be a principal instructor in our Light Scattering University in-house training program and help develop and update course materials. 

Qualifications

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in Chemistry, Biophysics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Hands-on experience with macromolecule or nanoparticle characterization techniques (especially optical or HPLC), instrumentation and software; experience with light scattering detectors is highly desirable. Experience with Waters | Wyatt instruments would be ideal!  
  • Strong experience in experimental design, method development, and data analysis.
  • Proven ability to translate applications into product requirements or validation criteria.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Preferred

  • Hands-on experience with light scattering techniques (DLS, SLS, MALS).
  • Familiarity with product validation, verification, or regulated environments (GxP).
  • Experience creating training programs and delivering technical instruction.
  • Prior involvement in product launches or beta programs.
