Position: Datawarehouse/ MSSQL + Azure Database Administrator {SQL DBA}

Location: Downtown, Chicago

Duration: 4-6 Months

Job Description:

Client is currently seeking an experienced MSSQL + Azure Database Administrator (DBA) to join its team

Experience: 8+ years of relevant experience

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and administer SQL Server databases across multiple environments, ensuring optimal performance, availability, and reliability.
  • Design, implement, and maintain database security protocols and access controls.
  • Develop and implement robust backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data integrity.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, ensuring efficient query execution and system responsiveness.
  • Implement proactive monitoring solutions to identify and address potential issues before they impact system performance.
  • Conduct capacity planning to ensure databases can accommodate future growth in data volume and user activity.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams to scale database resources as needed.
  • Implement and maintain High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR) solutions, including AlwaysOn Mirroring, replication (Snapshot and Transactional), and Log Shipping.
  • Write and optimize complex T-SQL scripts and stored procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and optimize database-related issues using T-SQL.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to provide updates, gather requirements, and address concerns.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, procedures, and best practices.

Experience:

  • Strong expertise in SQL Server database administration, including performance tuning, security management, and backup and recovery.
  • Experience with HADR solutions, Azure cloud services integration, and T-SQL scripting.
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes (Incident/Service Request/Problem/Change Management).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure DBA Associate) are a plus.
