  • Review multi-state income and franchise tax returns for corporations and passthrough entities.
  • Advise clients on nexus, apportionment methodologies, filing positions, tax minimization strategies, credits and incentives, restructuring transactions, and other state tax planning opportunities.
  • Research and analyze complex state tax issues; develop technical memoranda and present findings and recommendations to clients and firm leadership.
  • Lead state tax controversy matters, including audits, notices, appeals, and voluntary disclosure agreements.
  • Identify and drive opportunities to expand existing client relationships and develop new business opportunities for the SALT practice.
  • Participate in networking, marketing, and business development activities, including proposal preparation, presentations, and thought leadership initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Partners and leaders across service lines to deliver integrated client solutions.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates; foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Review engagement work product and ensure technical excellence, quality control, and adherence to firm standards.
  • Assist with practice management initiatives, including staffing, resource planning, workflow optimization, and profitability management.
  • Stay current on legislative and regulatory developments impacting state and local taxation and communicate impacts to clients and internal stakeholders.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and/or Master's degree in Accounting.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • 8+ years of progressive public accounting experience, with significant experience in state and local tax consulting and compliance.
  • Strong technical expertise in multi-state income and franchise tax matters.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex SALT consulting engagements and serving as a trusted advisor to clients.
  • Proven business development experience, including identifying opportunities, expanding client relationships, and supporting revenue growth initiatives.
  • Experience managing and developing tax professionals at multiple levels, including Managers, Senior Associates, and Associates.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple complex engagements and deadlines simultaneously.
