Job description

An exciting career awaits you

At MPC, we're committed to being a great place to work - one that welcomes new ideas, encourages diverse perspectives, develops our people, and fosters a collaborative team environment.

Position Summary

MPC is building an enterprise Plan-to-Produce capability to improve how planning, production, inventory, logistics, commercial activity, data, and technology work together to support reliable execution and better business decisions. Plan-to-Produce connects the activities and decisions involved in translating business plans into production, inventory, logistics, and commercial execution.

The Plan-to-Produce Advisor is an individual contributor within Value Chain Optimization (VCO) who will help identify and address systemic performance issues across this end-to-end value chain. Working with business leaders, planners, operating sites, functional stakeholders, and technology teams, the advisor will analyze operational signals, process performance, recurring exceptions, data quality, and cross-functional dependencies to identify improvement priorities.

The role will develop performance measures and insights, lead structured problem solving, and help translate improvement opportunities into practical changes to processes, decision logic, roles, data, and technology. This includes identifying business problems where analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, workflow tools, or improved data can reduce manual effort, strengthen decisions, and improve performance in areas such as Auto Reconciliation and other enterprise improvement opportunities.

Success requires analytical problem solving, systems thinking, cross-functional facilitation, and the ability to influence measurable outcomes without direct authority. This position offers the opportunity to help establish a new enterprise capability while building perspective across operating performance, process design, analytics, technology enablement, and cross-functional change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partners with the Global Process Owner, Process Excellence leadership, business leaders, operating sites, and functional stakeholders to identify, assess, prioritize, and advance enterprise Plan-to-Produce improvement opportunities based on business value, operational risk, and strategic alignment.

  • Analyzes operational signals, process performance, recurring exceptions, data quality, and cross-functional dependencies to identify systemic performance gaps, develop improvement recommendations, and support leadership decision-making.

  • Develops and maintains performance measures, reporting approaches, and analytical insights that help stakeholders understand process performance, anticipate risks, prioritize improvement opportunities, and evaluate business outcomes across the Plan-to-Produce value chain.

  • Leads structured problem solving for cross-functional performance gaps, using root-cause analysis, focused improvement cycles, and disciplined follow-through to develop and advance sustainable solutions.

  • Improves end-to-end processes and operating practices by clarifying decision logic, handoffs, roles, key control points, and integration points across planning and execution.

  • Identifies business problems and use cases where improved data, practical analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, or workflow tools can reduce manual effort, strengthen decisions, improve visibility, or improve process performance.

  • Partners with business and technology teams to shape requirements, evaluate practical solution options, and support adoption of approved improvements across Plan-to-Produce processes and enabling tools.

  • Partners with Process Assurance, Standards and Knowledge Management, Change Readiness, Innovation, and other supporting roles to translate approved improvements into clear operating expectations, documentation inputs, adoption support, and sustainable ways of working.

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, or a related field.

Minimum Experience

Senior Plan-to-Produce Advisor

  • Four (4) or more years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, operations, planning, supply chain, business or process analysis, operational excellence, performance management, process improvement, or a related field within a business or operational environment.
  • Experience analyzing operational or process performance, applying structured problem solving, developing KPIs or business insights, or advancing improvements across stakeholder groups is preferred. Experience in refining or another process-manufacturing environment, value chain optimization, business analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, workflow technologies, or technology-enabled process improvement is also preferred.

Lead Plan-to-Produce Advisor

  • Six (6) or more years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, operations, planning, supply chain, business or process analysis, operational excellence, performance management, process improvement, or a related field within a business or operational environment.
  • Experience independently analyzing complex operational or process-performance issues, leading structured problem solving, developing recommendations for business or process leaders, or influencing improvements across organizations is preferred. Experience in refining or another process-manufacturing environment, value chain optimization, business analytics, automation, artificial intelligence, workflow technologies, or data-enabled process improvement is also preferred.

Skills

  • Process Performance and Business Improvement - Analyzes complex planning and execution workflows, identifies root causes, and translates operational insights into improvement opportunities that strengthen reliability, efficiency, cost performance, and value realization.

  • Enterprise Value Chain Perspective - Understands how planning, manufacturing, inventory, logistics, commercial activity, and supporting functions interact, and can identify tradeoffs, constraints, risks, and opportunities across the broader value chain.

  • KPI Development and Performance Insight - Develops and interprets leading and lagging indicators, performance trends, and operational signals to support better decisions, prioritize improvement work, and validate measurable outcomes.

  • Automation, Analytics, and Continuous Improvement Mindset - Applies practical analytics, automation concepts, artificial intelligence, workflow tools, and emerging technologies to reduce manual effort, improve visibility, strengthen data quality, and enable scalable process improvement.

  • Systems Thinking and Root-Cause Analysis - Connects process issues, data signals, system interactions, and business outcomes to diagnose problems, identify sustainable solutions, and avoid narrow or short-term fixes.

  • Cross-Functional Facilitation and Influence - Builds alignment across business leaders, planners, operating sites, functional teams, technology partners, and process stakeholders to move improvement priorities forward without direct authority.

  • Change Translation and Sustainment - Translates process improvements into clear decision logic, operating expectations, documentation inputs, and adoption-ready materials that help new ways of working become sustainable.
