Position: Full time

Schedule: up to 6 days per week, 12 hours per day

Requirements Job Summary

The Senior Project Engineer is responsible for supporting and leading the technical execution of engineering and construction projects by planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling key project elements from pre-bid support through project completion. This position provides senior-level technical guidance, reviews project documentation and engineering deliverables, supports project controls and cost tracking, evaluates site and ground conditions, and helps ensure work is completed safely, accurately, on schedule, and within budget. The Senior Project Engineer also mentors Project Engineers, Field Engineers, interns, and other project support personnel, while serving as a technical resource to Project Managers, QC Managers, field leadership, and operations teams.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • May provide technical direction, guidance, and mentoring to Project Engineers, Field Engineers, interns, and project support staff.
  • Reviews work prepared by Project Engineers or other assigned project personnel for accuracy, completeness, documentation quality, and alignment with project requirements.
  • May coordinate or oversee assigned engineering tasks and project documentation workflows; direct supervisory responsibility may vary by project assignment.
Duties/Responsibilities
  • Lead or support technical project execution, including planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling engineering-related activities.
  • Support identification, review, and evaluation of prospective projects, including proposal specifications, drawings, scope requirements, and technical risks.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, bid strategy discussions, proposal reviews, and client or internal presentation meetings as required.
  • Prepare and/or review take-offs, estimates, proposals, engineering calculations, schedules, construction plans, and technical project documentation.
  • Coordinate with the Work Winning Manager, Chief Engineer, Project Managers, QC Managers, and field leadership in preparing designs, bids, plans, and project execution strategies.
  • Review and evaluate geotechnical reports, soil boring logs, ground conditions, design parameters, means and methods, and potential project constraints or risks.
  • Manage preparation of project plans, construction details, submittals, RFIs, change documentation, and other technical deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Track project progress against schedule, budget, scope, and technical requirements; identify deviations and support corrective action plans.
  • Prepare, review, and maintain daily activity reports, weekly cost analyses, production tracking, quantity tracking, and final project reports.
  • Travel to construction sites to verify conditions, confirm work is being performed properly and in accordance with design intent, and support resolution of field issues.
  • Provide technical direction and support to field teams to help ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and specifications.
  • Identify and anticipate technical, operational, or cost-related issues and recommend practical resolutions.
  • Coordinate with clients, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to support timely communication and issue resolution.
  • Support project closeout, lessons learned, and documentation of historical data for use on future projects.
  • Mentor junior project staff by providing coaching, technical guidance, feedback, and development support.
  • Follow up and follow through on assigned projects and tasks through completion.
  • Adhere to company safety requirements, project-specific safety plans, and safe work practices at all times.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Experience in deep foundations or heavy civil works is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or leading technical project execution on active construction projects.
  • Experience reviewing project documentation, engineering deliverables, cost tracking, schedules, production reports, and field reports.
  • Experience mentoring, training, or providing technical guidance to Project Engineers, Field Engineers, interns, or junior project personnel preferred.
  • Strong ability to read, understand, interpret, and organize construction plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, soil boring logs, schedules, and project documents.
  • Strong technical judgment and ability to evaluate ground conditions, design parameters, constructability issues, scope gaps, cost impacts, and project risks.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of related experience in geotechnical, deep foundations, heavy civil, structural, or construction projects preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to visit active construction sites and navigate uneven terrain.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
