Job description

Senior Application Developer

Level is a learning technology company dedicated to helping students build real academic and life skills with confidence and joy. We combine proven curriculum principles with world class interactive design to make meaningful practice something students want to come back to, not something they struggle through.

We support what teachers, schools, and parents are already doing by increasing student engagement with high quality, standards aligned practice that reinforces classroom learning. That's why we're building:

For students: Rewarding and motivating learning experiences that meet students where they are to build real academic proficiency.

For educators: Tools that fit naturally into instruction and help students stay engaged while reducing teacher workload.

For parents: Activities that help your kid catch up or get ahead, build confidence, and minimize homework battles, whether learning at school or at home.

We are committed to helping every person maximize their potential and live a life of meaning. It's a difficult problem that requires brilliant people and tremendous effort over time.

We are looking for a Senior Application Developer who brings demonstrated passion, knowledge, and curiosity about every aspect of cross-platform application development. You care deeply about the craft - from the first frame a student sees to the last interaction before they close the app.

What You'll Do

Depending on your strengths and our needs, you'll focus in one of the following areas - or grow across all three:

  • Tools Engineering: Extend the Godot editor into a production-grade tool that empowers our development team to ship a world-changing digital learning experience.

  • Desktop App Development: Own and deliver a best-in-class learning experience on desktop platforms, from boot to close.

  • Mobile App Development: Build and refine our learning experience on tablets and other mobile platforms, ensuring performance, responsiveness, and delight at every interaction.

Across all tracks, you will:

  • Own the end-to-end user experience from app launch to close, ensuring every interaction is fast, intuitive, and mission-aligned.

  • Integrate with our cloud services including authentication, telemetry, and progression tracking.

  • Collaborate closely with UX/UI designers to deliver polished, learner-centered experiences.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong familiarity with at least one mainstream native UI framework (SwiftUI, Qt, WPF, or similar)

  • Solid understanding of UI framework subsystems - layout, rendering, event-routing, localization, animation, and related systems

  • Familiarity with multiple UI architecture paradigms is a plus

  • Ability to integrate applications with online services including authentication, telemetry, and progression tracking

  • Comfortable self-serving on design and art tasks when a designer isn't in the room
