Job description

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Senior Analyst, Business Intelligence will conduct critical strategic analysis for the Stores teams at Ross and dd's Discounts, leading to insight and actions that improve business performance. This position will report to the Director of Business Intelligence and will interact with VP+ stakeholders and Stores Leadership. The candidate will utilize their training in analytics to accurately and efficiently process large amounts of data, revealing store performance trends and identifying root causes. They summarize results into clear written communications for Stores Leadership and Senior Executives. These reporting and analysis responsibilities are a mix of recurring (weekly, monthly, quarterly) and ad-hoc activities, depending on business needs and priorities. The position will require the Manager to establish cross-functional partnerships across all facets of the organization (both Field and Corporate).
The base salary range for this role is $81,000 - $121,800. The base salary range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards vary by position and location.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Design and conduct financial and operational analyses to understand drivers of performance and identify root causes of changes in performance trends:
• Examples include analysis of operational metrics such as store fixture capacity across the year, impact from strategic initiatives, etc.
• Proactively identify opportunities and execute analysis to develop tangible and fact-based recommendations to improve performance.
• Partner with key stakeholders to build and continuously improve business intelligence processes, tools, dashboards, metrics, and insights to provide the business with access to actionable data.
• Support operational and technical responsibilities that include data preparation, data warehousing, data flow, reporting integrity and accuracy, predictive analytics, data exploration, and socialization.
• Manage projects from end to end, including work plan creation, coordination with other functions in the organization, and support materials development and verbal communication/presentation of findings and recommendations.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Bachelor's degree required with demonstrated superior college performance (preferably in an analytical field such as Finance, Economics, Accounting, etc.)
• Minimum of 3+ years of work experience in an analyst role is required.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group - including Senior Executives, managers, and subject matter experts within and outside the department - and the ability to explain analytical methodology and results to non-technical audiences. Must be able to clearly communicate results and implications of analysis in both verbal and written (PowerPoint) forms
• Outstanding analytical ability - must have a data driven approach to solving problems. Requires very strong quantitative skills, a good sense of how to dissect problems and a strong ability to "connect the dots" - e.g., understand how pieces of data interact with each other or how one finding should inform the result of another analysis
• Proficiency with statistical tools (e.g., SQL, R, Python), data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Excel), and other statistical & reporting packages.
• Passionately analytical and innately curious creative thinker. Must have the drive and self-motivation necessary to be part of managing in a fast-paced, changing retail environment
• Proven ability to develop and apply analytic solutions to solve business problems.
• Experience developing short- and long-term visions for solutions that have a significant business impact.
• Unquestionable personal and professional character and integrity - must be trustworthy with confidential information
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer.
Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in-person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files, etc.
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
This role requires regular in-office presence, including to engage in in-person team interaction, meetings and collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, this role can perform duties effectively using a combination of in-office and remote work. #LI-Hybrid
