The main difference between a Senior Advisor and a Consultant lies in their roles and engagement scope. Senior Advisors typically provide strategic guidance within organizations, often holding long-term or high-level responsibilities. Consultants usually work on specific projects, offering expert advice for a limited period. Both roles require relevant credentials, but Senior Advisors often have more extensive experience and industry knowledge, focusing on strategic impact rather than just project execution.

How do senior advisors get paid?

What is a senior advisor?

A Senior Advisor is an experienced professional who provides high-level guidance, strategic advice, and expertise to organizations, executives, or teams. They often have years of specialized experience in their field and help shape key decisions, solve complex problems, and mentor other staff. Senior Advisors may work in a variety of industries, including business, government, or non-profits, and their role can be either internal or as an external consultant. Their input is valued for its depth of knowledge, broad perspective, and ability to drive effective outcomes.

How does a senior advisor typically collaborate with executive leadership and cross-functional teams?

Senior Advisors are often called upon to provide strategic guidance and insights directly to executive leadership, while also working closely with cross-functional teams to implement organizational initiatives. They facilitate communication between departments, synthesize complex information, and ensure that recommendations align with overall business objectives. This role requires strong interpersonal skills, as Senior Advisors must build trust and foster consensus among stakeholders with diverse perspectives. Regular meetings, strategic planning sessions, and ad-hoc consultations are common aspects of their collaborative work.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior advisor, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Senior Advisor, you need deep expertise in your field, strong analytical abilities, and often an advanced degree or relevant professional experience. Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and leadership skills help you build trust and guide high-level decision-making. These capabilities are crucial for delivering valuable insights, influencing stakeholders, and driving organizational success.

Job description

About the Company

At Current, everything starts with people. We believe that when you invest in talent through opportunity, development, and support, you unlock growth for individuals, firms, and clients alike. That’s why we’ve built a platform designed to give our people access to more: more learning, more collaboration, and more ways to grow their careers than any single firm could offer on its own.
Founded in 2023, Current has rapidly become one of the fastest-growing accounting platforms in the country, partnering with more than 40 leading accounting firms across the United States. Today, our community includes over 2,000 professionals, 30+ offices nationwide, and a growing global workforce that supports clients around the world. Backed by Thrive Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Springdale Industries, Current is investing heavily in technology, artificial intelligence, and workforce innovation to help modernize the profession. Our leadership team has a proven track record of building and scaling successful businesses, with prior ventures generating more than $3 billion in combined enterprise value.
We’re building something bigger than a traditional accounting firm: a platform where talented people can grow faster, learn more, and do more meaningful work. Whether you join Current, one of our partner firms, or our global team, you’ll be part of a community shaping the future of the profession.

Experienced Financial Advisor - Bring and Grow Your Book

Location: We are currently prioritizing advisors based in Oregon, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Illinois, and California. Candidates in other markets may also be considered based on their book of business and licensing profile.

Cross Financial | High Payout. True Ownership. Real Upside.

Are you an established financial advisor looking for stronger economics, greater autonomy, and better operational support?

Cross Financial is seeking experienced wealth advisors with an established client base who are interested in transitioning their practice to an advisor-first platform. This opportunity is designed for professionals who want greater control over their client relationships, a highly competitive payout structure, and infrastructure that allows them to spend more time advising clients and growing their business.

Why Cross Financial

  • Elite payout structure: 60-80%+, depending on book size and profile

  • Advisor-centered client relationship model, with no firm-imposed non-compete tied to clients brought to the platform, subject to applicable agreements and legal requirements

  • Independent, advisor-first platform built to reduce friction and inefficiency

  • Scalable platform that allows advisors to focus on clients and growth

  • Leadership and equity potential for advisors who want to help shape the firm’s future

  • Built for experienced advisors - not entry-level advisors or product-led sales roles

The Opportunity

  • Transition your existing book of business to a more efficient, higher-payout platform

  • Maintain full ownership and control of client relationships

  • Deliver comprehensive wealth management advice aligned to your clients’ needs

  • Collaborate with other senior advisors and firm leadership

  • Participate in mentorship, business development, or leadership initiatives based on interest

  • Leverage centralized operational, compliance, and technology resources

Who This Is For

  • Financial / Wealth Advisors with a transferable book of business

  • Wirehouse or bank advisors currently earning ~25–35%

  • Independent advisors burdened by inefficiencies and lack of opportunity

  • Those with strong client retention and an extensive relationship management track record

  • Advisors motivated by better economics, autonomy, and long-term upside

  • Collaborative professionals who value flexibility and ownership

  • Experience working within the LPL Financial and/or Charles Schwab ecosystem

Preferred (Not Required):

  • Book size of $20M–$100M+

  • Located in the following states: OR, NY, NJ, FL, IL or CA

Compensation & Financial Upside

  • Payout range: 60–80%+ based on book size and structure

  • Top-tier payout bands available for advisors with larger, scalable books

  • No forced production grids or artificial caps

  • Select advisors may be considered for leadership roles or potential equity participation

  • On-Target Earnings: $150K - $600K+: Uncapped earnings directly aligned with revenue production and practice growth

Support and Resources

Advisors receive access to the technology, operational support, compliance resources, and professional infrastructure needed to successfully transition and scale their practice. Additional compensation and benefits may vary based on the advisor’s affiliation structure and eligibility.

The Bottom Line

If you have built a successful practice and are looking for stronger economics, greater autonomy, and a platform designed to support continued growth, Cross Financial offers an opportunity to elevate your business without sacrificing the client relationships you have worked hard to build.

Confidential conversations encouraged.
