Job description

Hannover Life Reassurance Company of America (Hannover Re) is currently seeking talented candidates for our open Sr Actuary position. This is a Full-Time role within the CSS - Corporate Actuarial department. Job Summary: A Senior Actuary is a non-rotational position outside of Hannover Re's Actuarial Development Program ("ADP"). The Senior Actuary's primary responsibility is to lead the experience study process for the Life Solutions Traditional Life business.


Essential Functions:
(60%) Technical Support and Analysis
ย  Lead the technical completion of the traditional mortality experience studies and model validation by writing and running R code utilizing an internal R package.
ย  Implement new statistical methodologies to further analytic abilities and strengthen the assumption review/adjustment process.
ย  Summarize experience results and work with the AVP, Actuary, to improve the model assumptions.
ย  Implement assumption updates to the SQL assumption database and perform impact analysis on the projected financial results. Review results for reasonableness to validate correct implementation. Abide by model governance guidelines when implementing approved assumptions updates into the production model.
ย  Comprehensively documents technical process, ensures integrity of results by collaborating with key stakeholders to develop/implement controls to ensure auditability, and is prepared to speak to completed analysis for internal or external stakeholders.

(30%) Business Management and Collaboration
ย  Identifies areas of weakness with experience study data and communicates data needs for remediation and improvement.
ย  Trains and assists peers and junior employees, as requested or required, to foster growth and development within the department.
ย  Actively manages multiple priorities and responsibilities, effectively prioritizes and communicates progress with results to the stakeholder group.
ย  Looks for ways to improve processes for efficiency and accuracy.
ย  Coordinate with stakeholders, including the financial reporting and modeling teams, to ensure objectives are aligned with quarterly valuation deadlines.


(10%) Ad-hoc Project / Other

Essential knowledge, skills, and abilities:
ย  Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or similar
ย  Fellow of the Society of Actuaries or within 1 year of FSA attainment
ย  5+ years of experience in an Actuarial role
ย  Actuarial modeling experience: Risk Agility preferred
ย  Computer software: Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook), Database knowledge (high proficiency)
ย  Programming knowledge: R, SQL, VBA, C++, or similar
ย  Business knowledge: Reinsurance basics, Traditional Life Products
ย  Business skills: Strong verbal communication, Excellent writing skills, Ability to communicate complex initiatives


Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities:
ย  Azure DevOps
ย  Valuation knowledge: Solvency II, IFRS17, Stat, AG48, and PBR
ย  Experience with establishing controlled procedures
ย  Experience with project planning and managing a broad range of stakeholders
ย  Experience leveraging AI to automate routine actuarial tasks


Travel: 10% ย domestic travel, including overnight stays

Compensation (Inclusive of Base + Bonus)
ย  $113,600 - $205,800
