Job description

The Reserve at Orchard Lake, Oakland County's premiere assisted living and memory care center is looking for an Activities Director to design and create a life enrichment program that will keep our residents  interested in activities and programs that keep them active in the community.  The right candidate has excellent communication skills and experience in geriatrics, recreation, or social administration  

Responsibilities

  • Design a creative and exciting life enrichment program to meet the individual needs and interest of the community.
  • Plan monthly life enrichment calendar.
  • Participate in the review of service plans and regularly document life enrichment progress. Participate in discharge planning with other members of the management team.
  • Assist in planning and carrying out fun and engaging events for both residents and marketing events; collaborating with the rest of the team.
  • Plan and conduct outings with residents.
  • Attend weekly Leadership meetings.
  • Monitor Life Enrichment budgets, equipment, and supplies.
  • Provide guidance and act as a resource to staff on the importance of life enrichment and other areas regarding the quality of life for residents.
  • Ensure that Life Enrichment Programs meet all state, federal, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate quarterly special events at the community. Develop and maintain contact with community agencies and organizations.
  • Train, supervise, and coordinate volunteers.
  • Comply with Residents’ Rights policy and Community and Employee Policies and Procedures.
  • Ability to drive a bus/van.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education:  High School Diploma or GED is required.  Some College preferred.
  • Experience: 
  • A minimum of two years of experience within a senior living community is required.
  • Class B or Class C CDL preferred
  • Previous experience as a Activity/Lifestyle Director is preferred.
  • Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to work well unsupervised
  • Excellent communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to socially interact and perform under pressure.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is required; weekend availability.
  • Ability to maintain positive and professional interactions with residents and families at all times.
  • Experience with Microsoft Programs and/or other applicable software programs and basic computer skills.
