The second fab will utilize its leading edge N3 and N2 process technology and be operational in 2028. The recently announced third fab will manufacture chips using 2nm or even more advanced process technology, with production starting by the end of the decade. Senior Hookup System Engineer
  • As a Senior Hookup System Engineer, you will serve as a technical leader supporting process piping, mechanical, or electrical systems for semiconductor FAB construction projects. This role requires demonstrated expertise and the ability to work independently while driving critical aspects of project execution. You will be a key contributor to installation planning, quality evaluation, troubleshooting, and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams. This position offers an exceptional opportunity to make significant contributions to TSMC's global Semiconductor FAB expansions, including our Arizona facility, as well as our sites in Germany, Japan, and other regions.

Responsibilities:
  • Leads the creation and implementation of installation procedures for process piping, mechanical, and/or electrical systems, ensuring adherence to quality and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrates deep expertise in construction quality control by independently verifying system installations through site inspections, resolving discrepancies, and driving compliance with specifications, standards, and project timelines.
  • Oversees the resolution of technical challenges and develops innovative solutions that contribute to project success and efficiency.
  • Drives collaboration among multidisciplinary teams-including project managers, schedulers, CAD designers, tool owners, and contractors-to ensure alignment of goals, adherence to timelines, and integration of project milestones.
  • Provides technical leadership to contractors, delivering expert guidance and fostering efficient, high-quality installations.
  • Identifies opportunitiesfor improvement in construction processes, advocating for and implementing optimized methods to enhance efficiency and project quality.
  • Manages specific project workstreams, including planning, coordination, and execution related to their area of expertise.
  • Utilizes deep technical knowledge and insights to support incident investigations, contributing to after-action reviews (AAR) and the development of lessons learned to prevent recurrence.
  • Other related job duties as required by business needs.

Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field
    • 3 to 5 years relevant experience in engineering or construction projects
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proven experience managing engineering responsibilities and construction projects
    • Knowledge in AutoCAD and Navisworks
  • Interpersonal Skills:
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.),
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to drive collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
    • Ability to work autonomously, demonstrating a proactive and solutions-oriented mindset while meeting project deadlines
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment and adapt to dynamic project demands
    • Willingness and flexibility to travel internationally, work on extended assignments abroad
    • Ability to adapt successfully to different work environments, cultures, and time zones
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Frequent grasping, manipulation, and occasional twisting, bending, stooping, squatting, or reaching, desk-based computer work, including data analysis and documentation.

Shift expectations:
  • All Senior Hookup System Engineers may be required to work a Compressed Work Week (4-day on, 3-day off, 3-day on, 4-day off), and may be required to work night shift on a rotational basis.
  • Scheduled night shifts and weekend on-call rotations in a 24/7 high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Night shift rotations are expected to be no more than 4 months per calendar year.
  • Standard work hours: Monday through Friday
