Job description

Job Title - Reliability Equipment Engineer, Fremont, CA Role

Description

We are seeking a Reliability Equipment Engineer to support the scaling and maintenance of our microLED reliability lab. In this role, you will ensure our cutting-edge hardware and environmental testing systems (that includes different types of environmental test chambers that perform high temperature, high humidity, and temperature cycling stresses) are robust, highly available, and running at peak performance. You will partner with cross-functional hardware and software teams to troubleshoot complex equipment failures, perform root-cause analysis on hardware-software interfaces, and deploy system upgrades. In this role, you will work on debugging, preventative maintenance optimization of stress equipment, and keeping advanced hardware fleets running smoothly

Responsibilities

● Equipment Maintenance, Calibration & Gauge R&R: Operate, calibrate, and troubleshoot reliability stations, chambers, and optoelectronic testers—executing Gauge R&R studies to ensure measurement repeatability and system accuracy while maximizing uptime to prevent test interruptions.

● Automation & Data Integrity: Write and maintain hardware control scripts continuously log chamber current, voltage, temperature, humidity data and create dashboards.

● Hardware Failure Isolation & Vendor Management: Perform initial hardware-level troubleshooting to isolate equipment, chamber failures, or fixture anomalies from actual semiconductor device failures, working directly with equipment vendors to drive rapid issue resolution.

● Lab Operations & Safety Compliance: Enforce ESD, laser, and thermal safety protocols, manage hardware spare parts inventory and procurement, and maintain lab safety to ensure a safe work environment.

● Documentation and Job order: Documentation of SOPs for the validated reliability infrastructure. Manage and create Job order forms and SOPs for external vendors, including scope of work, technical specifications, quality criteria, and packaging TAT timelines Minimum Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

● 2–4 years of hands-on experience with test or reliability equipment, stress chamber, lab instrumentation, or automation in a semiconductor/optoelectronic test or reliability lab environment.

● Working knowledge of operating and maintaining environmental chambers (High Temp stress, humidity stress, temperature cycling) or optoelectronic test fixtures.

● Foundational skill in basic data collection, equipment diagnostic scripting (e.g., Python, LabVIEW), and identifying hardware-level anomalies vs. true device failures. Preferred Qualifications

● Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).

● 5+ years of hands-on experience with test or reliability equipment, stress chambers, or automation in a semiconductor/optoelectronic environment.

● Advanced expertise in configuring, customizing, and optimizing environmental chambers and optoelectronic test fixtures for high-throughput reliability testing.

● Advanced scripting and automation skils (e.g., Python, LabVIEW) for developing complex hardware control sequences, automated data pipelines, and real-time performance dashboards.
