This role will be responsible for driving traffic growth, improving rankings, and translating performance data into clear action plans. Conduct in-depth SEO audits, competitive gap analyses, and keyword opportunity mapping. Collaborate with designers and developers during the strategy and build phases to ensure SEO is implemented cleanly. Create structured content strategies and recommendations to support UX and conversion goals.

Manage and improve local SEO for clients with physical locations. Track rankings, crawl health, Core Web Vitals, and conversions through platforms like Ahrefs, GA4, and Search Console. Present findings and recommendations clearly to clients, with support from PMs.

Run technical SEO audits using tools like Screaming Frog and SEMrush, and summarize findings in plain language with prioritized action steps. Implement on-page SEO updates directly in CMS platforms (primarily WordPress), including meta tags, headers, alt text, internal links, and schema markup. Conduct keyword research using Ahrefs or SEMrush to identify primary and secondary targets for core pages, blog content, and campaigns.

Create SEO briefs and outlines to guide writers or internal team members on structure, keyword usage, and topic coverage. Review draft content and optimize for SEO before publishing, ensuring readability, scannability, and performance. Collaborate with developers during website projects to ensure SEO requirements (like crawlability, redirects, and proper URL structure) are met before launch.

Set up and configure SEO tools for new websites (Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, basic tracking parameters, etc.). Generate clear monthly reports for clients using GA4 and other tools, highlighting wins, identifying drops, and suggesting next steps. Research backlink opportunities through competitor analysis, brand mentions, and digital PR partners; support execution where relevant.

Stay informed about Google algorithm updates and evaluate how they might impact client sites; recommend adjustments accordingly. Attend client meetings (as needed) to walk through SEO performance and explain strategy in non-technical terms. Flag technical blockers or content gaps and collaborate with project managers or client strategists to get them resolved.
