This is a term position; length of the term will be discussed during the interview process. Continuation past the term length discussed will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.
POSITION SPECIFICS
The Department of Mathematics in Penn State's Eberly College of Science is seeking a Postdoctoral Scholar beginning January 2027. The successful candidate will work with Professor Leonid Berlyand in the area of probabilistic methods in machine learning. These include applications of Random Matrix theory and Gaussian processes to Deep Neural Nets.
Teaching may be required.
Education and Experience:
Applicants must have recently completed a Ph.D. and have exceptional research potential. Candidates will be considered with background in probability with the focus on Random Matrix theory and Stochastic Processes. Expertise in numerical simulations (with Matlab or Python) as well as basic knowledge of neural nets will be valued but not required.
