Job Description
Data Center Operations Analyst
Rockland Trust is seeking a Data Center Operations Analyst to join its IT team and support critical enterprise operations. This role is responsible for scheduling and executing file transfers, managing incidents, supporting disaster recovery activities, and maintaining backup and restore processes, along with basic network troubleshooting.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in IT operations, a proactive mindset, and the ability to document processes, monitor system performance, and support a 24/7 operational environment, including participation in a rotational on-call schedule.
Responsibilities
  • Configure, manage, and monitor Managed File Transfer (MFT) processes, including scheduled and ad-hoc transfers, ensuring secure and reliable data movement
  • Administer and monitor enterprise job scheduling tools to support timely execution of data processing and report distribution; troubleshoot and resolve job failures
  • Identify, log, prioritize, and escalate incidents in accordance with established procedures to minimize business impact
  • Coordinate and execute disaster recovery (DR) activities, including regular testing and validation of data integrity
  • Monitor and maintain backup processes; perform data restoration and validate recoverability to support business continuity
  • Troubleshoot basic network and connectivity issues; monitor performance and escalate complex issues as needed
  • Develop and maintain operational documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), runbooks, and system logs
  • Collaborate with internal IT teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure operational efficiency and adherence to security best practices
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across IT operations

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in IT operations, data center environments, or infrastructure support
  • Proven experience supporting mission-critical systems, including incident management, job scheduling, file transfers, and disaster recovery
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
  • Experience working in financial services or regulated environments is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Ability to diagnose issues, determine root cause, and implement effective solutions under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Strong documentation skills with a focus on clarity and completeness
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise job scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, AutoSys) and Managed File Transfer (MFT) platforms
  • Knowledge of backup methodologies (full, incremental, differential) and tools such as NetBackup, Veeam, or similar
  • Understanding of disaster recovery concepts, including RTO/RPO objectives, and experience participating in DR testing
  • Basic networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, DNS, FTP/SFTP, and firewall concepts
  • Familiarity with ITIL processes (incident, problem, change management) and ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or Jira
  • Experience with system monitoring tools and log analysis to ensure infrastructure health and performance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reporting, and basic automation (e.g., pivot tables, XLOOKUP, macros)
  • Willingness to participate in a rotational on-call schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to support 24/7 operations
