General Summary of Work of the Cook:
Works under the direction and supervision of the Director of Culinary Services, in the preparation, serving and storage of meals in accordance with printed menus, standardized recipes, special dietary requirements and state/federal and local regulations.
Principle Tasks of the Cook:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Preparation of daily meals according to menu plan, and in compliance with regulatory requirements
· Able to manage portion control, ensuring proper preparation of select foods to meet individual need
· Demonstrates close attention to detail
· Demonstrates organizational skills
· Demonstrates a working knowledge of regulatory requirements as related to food preparation, serving, delivery and storage
· Demonstrates competency with maintaining kitchen safety and infection control principles
· Able to communicate appropriately with a diverse group of individuals including residents, family members, facility staff and persons from outside the organization
QUALIFICATIONS of the Cook:
· At least one year of applicable experience is preferred
· Current knowledge of job-related state and federal regulations
· Must be capable of regular attendance
· Must meet all local health regulations, including criminal background investigation and reference inquiry
· Serv Safe Certification preferred
· Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation
Ayden Healthcare of Waterville is currently seeking an afternoon Culinary Services Assistant
Position Summary of the Culinary Services Aide:
Assists in the preparation and/ or service of meals/ food for patients, employees, and special events as instructed by the Culinary Director. They serve food and snacks according to the planned menu/spreadsheet and the patient’s/resident's food preferences and diet order.
Responsibilities & Duties of the Culinary Services Aide:
- Using proper food handling/ safety techniques and is of proper quantity
- Completed on time as scheduled, and is in accordance with the menu & residents’ diet order
- Wash dishes, etc. when necessary or when instructed to do so by the Culinary Director.
- May perform other duties as assigned by the Culinary Director when necessary.
Qualifications of the Culinary Services Aide:
- Must possess, as a minimum, high school education
- Experience in food prep and service preferred.
- Experiences in food prep and service within a skilled nursing / term care facility strongly preferred
- Food handler’s permit preferred
- Superior customer service skills required
