Operations SCADA Analyst - T&D Utility Renewables
LOCATION: Austin, TX area - Relocation Assistance available
HYBRID - Office and Work From Home Schedule
A Renewables Transmission Development and Operations Company is looking to expand their Operations Team with the addition of a Operations SCADA Analyst. The role is based out of the Austin, TX area (relocation assistance available).
This is a critical role that works directly with the Operations Team on SCADA Communication and Protective Relay System initiatives across the organization. It will require key interactions with the Protection and Control Engineer (P&C Engineer) as well as the Operations Control Supervisor to assess/implement various technology, software, hardware, and applications that are being utilized on high voltage operational assets throughout Texas.
They primarily use the OSI SCADA platform for real-time monitoring and control applications. Expertise in programming, troubleshooting, and configuring SEL RTAC and SCADA Master Systems is needed to be successful in the role.
The organization has a flat structure which gives their employees direct access to executive management and the ability to gain a diverse amount of experience on various projects.The scope of their operations includes transmission (t-line), substation, regional control centers, and distribution systems with interconnects to both utility-scale solar and wind assets.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Operations SCADA Analyst / SCADA Tech leads OSI Monarch SCADA operational and NERC compliance technical support initiatives for the Transmission System Operations Team
  • Operations SCADA Analyst / SCADA Tech act as subject matter expert for SCADA communication protocols such as MODBUS, DNP and ICCP
  • Operations SCADA Analyst / SCADA Tech modifies, updates, and configures protective relay setting in SEL RTAC / SEL AcSELerator
  • Operations SCADA Analyst / SCADA Tech supports IT and Engineering initiatives around TCP/IP communication and SCADA communication paths
  • Operations SCADA Analyst / SCADA Tech represents the company at ERCOT and other industry work groups to stay on top of the latest SCADA and Protective Relaying System technology

General Experience Requirements:
  • SCADA experience working with the OSI SCADA platform to support high voltage electrical utility operations & substation/transmission communication systems
  • High level of expertise in SCADA RTU relay configuration, maintenance, or commissioning of high voltage (138KV - 345KV or higher) systems
  • Experience interfacing with SCADA, RTU, SEL AcSELerator, SEL RTAC, Line Communication, & Line Relaying Systems
  • A NERC System Operator Certification or ability to obtain/maintain a NERC System Operator Certification is HIGHLY prefered
  • Working knowledge of differential relay protection schemes, relay settings, and circuit breaker schemes
  • Working knowledge of microprocessor relaying equipment: Schweitzer SEL relays (311L, 351S, 411L, 387, 487E, 487B, 487V, 751A) and/or GE relays L90
  • Willingness to travel regionally (West Texas)
  • Candidates with previous work experience in the following roles would be ideal: SCADA Technician, SCADA Analyst, SCADA Engineer, SCADA Specialist, P&C Communication Specialist, SCADA Relay Technician, SCADA Protection & Controls Technician
