They work in laboratories, research centers, or agricultural organizations to support farmers and seed producers. Their work helps improve crop yields and maintain seed quality for sustainable agriculture.

What are the typical daily responsibilities of a seed testing professional?

As a Seed Testing professional, your day often involves preparing and conducting various laboratory tests to assess seed quality, such as purity, germination, and vigor. You will document and analyze results, maintain laboratory equipment, and ensure all testing protocols meet industry or regulatory standards. Collaboration with agronomists, quality control specialists, and sometimes clients is common to interpret results or answer queries. Attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple samples efficiently are key aspects of the daily workflow. This role is integral to ensuring the quality and reliability of seeds distributed to farmers and agricultural companies.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the seed testing position, and why are they important?

To thrive in Seed Testing, you need a solid understanding of seed biology, laboratory testing procedures, and data analysis, typically backed by a degree in agriculture, biology, or a related field. Familiarity with specialized lab equipment such as germination chambers, moisture analyzers, and adherence to protocols from organizations like ISTA or AOSA is important. Strong attention to detail, organizational abilities, and effective teamwork skills will set you apart in a laboratory setting. Job description

Confidential client — a Seed-stage, YC-backed AI-powered recruiting marketplace (11-50 employees) that connects elite startup recruiters with fast-growing companies through software and operational tooling. The company has raised $2.5M from top venture investors and angels; its customers include 150+ YC and venture-backed startups hiring across engineering and GTM roles.

Full-Time,

In-person, San Francisco, CA.

Experience: 0-2 years.

Compensation: base $80,000-$110,000; total comp (OTE) ~ $140,000-$170,000+ (uncapped).

Visa sponsorship: None available.

The Role: As a Talent Operator, you are the engine of the marketplace. You will run full-cycle recruiting for the company's partners while actively stress-testing its internal AI and tooling. You'll be on the front lines, mastering the recruiting landscape before transitioning into broader operational or leadership roles. Once you master the recruitment landscape, scope increases based on where you spike best — this could be account management, working with the recruiter network, or scaling internal systems. This is a role for someone who loves to win, thrives in fast-paced environments, and wants to see their direct impact on a company's bottom line every day.

Compensation: Base $80,000-$110,000; total comp (OTE) ~ $140,000-$170,000+ (earnings are uncapped). Earnings-based compensation is directly tied to revenue generated off successful placements.

Growth Path: The Talent Operator role is a proving ground for future leaders. As an early team member, your path is based on where you spike and what you're passionate about: Account Management (own end-to-end relationships with partner companies and recruiters), Recruitment Management (scale and lead a team of Talent Operators), or Marketplace Operations (drive the supply and demand strategy for the marketplace).

Company stage: Seed. Work type: In-person (San Francisco, CA). No visa sponsorship available.
