Job description

Armed Protective Security Officer (FPS) - Huntsville, AL
  • Protect the principal against possible threats
  • Federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks, security equipment monitoring, roving patrols of the interior and exterior of federal property
  • Monitoring surveillance cameras for any disruptions or unlawful activities
  • Providing detailed reports on daily activities and/or incidents that may have occurred
  • Knowledgeable and able to effectively use magnetometer and X-ray machines
  • Using provided communication devices such as two-way radios in a clear and concise manner
  • Leverages excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures
  • Performing CPR or first aid when needed
  • Ensure credentials are maintained per contract requirements
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Project Manager.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to obtain suitability and/or clearance.
  • Be a United States citizen; or a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard)
  • Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individuals name and social security number
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience security (armed) experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a full-service police department in a municipality, state, or federal law enforcement department within the US.
  • A minimum of two (2) years as a member of any US Armed Forces with an honorable discharge
  • Must be able to fluently speak, read, comprehend English, and be able to compose written reports in English.
  • Must be able to qualify with a revolver or semi-automatic
  • Must possess strong relevant knowledge of the security industry.
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a customer service-driven mindset
  • Ability to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customers

Physical Demands:

  • PSO’s shall be physically able to perform tasks in performance of assigned duties
  • Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12hours pr day, either indoors or outdoors
  • Frequent contact with general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center, requiring an ability to speak clearly and distinctly and remain calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to remain on post up to four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating or receiving a break
  • Ability to remain alert for up to 12hours, with ability to mentally and physically react quickly to a variety of unexpected and dangerous situations
  • Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals, or intervene in a crisis
  • Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy object, climbing stairs
